Pico Propane is Hiring a District Manager Near Fort Lauderdale, FL

The District Manager will manage the operations of our plants located in Ft. Lauderdale and West Palm Beach, FL. Duties include ensuring employees follow all federal, state, and local regulations pertaining to the storage, delivery, and usage of all products that the company supplies. The District Manager is responsible for operating within the guidelines of the budget and provide other services as requested by management. This position will report to the Regional Manager.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Personnel Management:

  • Recruits, hires, and trains employees based on criteria agreed upon by senior management
  • Duties will include, managing tasks, staff meetings, development programs and management reports
  • Develop and manage staff at plant (field staff and office staff)
  • Coordinates with administration the compliance of office staff with established company policies and standards, such as safekeeping of company funds and property, personnel practices, security, sales and record-keeping procedures
  • Demonstrates ability to interact and cooperate with all company employees
  • All other related duties as assigned

Plant Performance:

  • Directly support and lead customer growth goals in coordination with sales team and management
  • Responsible to implement and execute company initiatives
  • Provides feedback to senior management regarding plant performance
  • Manage disaster relief services including operational support of customer sites
  • Coordinate and implement all safety initiatives as directed by the company safety committee
  • Monitor and implement all safety practices as regarded by regulatory agencies and company policies
  • Provides timely and accurate informative competitor information
  • Maintain adequate systems knowledge and provide support to the plants
  • Responsible for inventory management and pricing programs
  • Meet or exceed budget revenue guidelines and control expenses to meet or exceed budget requirements
  • Evaluate daily, weekly, and monthly plant reporting as required by senior management and ensure that functions at each plant are performed as required
  • Assist staff in collection efforts and must closely monitor top accounts
  • Responsible for the coordination of fleet maintenance, safety records, DOT files/records and overall plant/asset compliance using company fleet management and compliance
  • Schedule and dispatch all drivers and service technicians
  • Responsibility of overall delivery and service work efficiency including oversight of systems and repairs
  • Coordinate with management on equipment needs and repairs including procurement forecasting and asset optimization
  • Adhere with all company policies, procedures and business ethic codes and ensures that they are communicated and implemented within the team
  • All other related duties as assigned

Budget/Marketing Administration:

  • Assist in the development and implementation of marketing plans as needed
  • Controls expenses to meet budget guidelines
  • Adheres to all company policies, procedures and business ethic codes and ensures that they are communicated and implemented within the team
  • Responsible for online customer review oversight including achieving plant goals
  • All other related duties as assigned

Customer Service:

  • Ensure region personnel provides timely and professional responses to all customer inquiries
  • Resolves customer problems by clarifying customer concerns; determining the cause of the problem; selecting and explaining the best solution to solve the problem; expediting correction or adjustment; following up to ensure resolution
  • Responsible for achieving acceptable customer positive reviews on review platform
  • All other related duties as assigned

Education and Experience:

  • A Bachelor’s degree or Associate’s degree with at least 10 years of management experience; or a combination of experience and education that results in the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is required
  • Experience in the oil and propane industry preferred
  • Must have a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
  • Ability to obtain Qualifier or Master Qualifier preferred
  • Bilingual preferred

Skills/Abilities:

  • Proven leadership and ability to drive area sales
  • Must be able to coach and motivate a team
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills
  • Good listening skills
  • Service oriented
  • Proficient in the current Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to attain necessary certifications to ensure plant success


Supervisory Requirement:

  • This position will directly supervise our Ft. Lauderdale and West Palm Beach plants (office and field personnel)


Physical, Mental, Behavioral Requirements:

  • Regularly and safely lifts, carries, and handles supplies and equipment weighing at least 20 - 80 pounds
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch
