Status: Non-Exempt

Job Summary:

PIC Group's client has an amazing opportunity for an experienced Operations Technician for a for a Cryptocurrency Mining Farm located in Georgia. The mining site includes three 40MW power substations, 60 Antbox mining container systems, 12,000 S19J Pro Ant Miner machines along with an office building and shelters. The mining operations technician role is responsible for providing front-line support for all Colocation customers of the Bitcoin Mining facility. This will require the candidate to be able to troubleshoot customers’ hardware and network issues, maintain a server room environment (cooling, power, and security), and provide friendly customer service and support in case of issues/events. The focus of this position is to ensure a stable hosting environment and quick response to issues to minimize machine downtime.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Install all new equipment.
  • Troubleshooting equipment.
  • Respond to and perform customer requests, i.e., uninstallation, installation, reboot, etc.
  • Perform ethernet and fiber patch cabling for customers and internal teams.
  • Perform Data Center security monitoring; routine visual inspections of the facility, ensure regulations are met and environment are maintained by the standards.
  • Respond to and escalate equipment alarms.
  • Perform routine server room clean-up.
  • Maintain adequate supply levels for Ethernet patch cables, power cables, cooling fans, and other consumable components.
  • Ensure all visitors to the facilities follow all health and safety regulations and protocols.
  • Available for emergency on-call and shift work including midnights, weekends.
  • Help create and/or provide feedback on Data Center procedures.
  • Other ad hoc duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

  • Individual contributor and is not responsible for leading or supervising others.
  • High level of flexibility and responsiveness is required and work beyond standard hours might occur.
  • The decisions made in this job have a considerable effect on clients’ uptime. Decision-making may also impact the stability of the environment.
  • Problems and situations are different and require interpretation. Use of judgment is required to identify the most appropriate solution from several options using prior knowledge and experience.
  • Requires the willingness to get experience in applying methods/procedures, which are well defined and straightforward, but with occasional deviations. Basic technical know-how is required.
  • Working within a server room environment. Potentially high ambient background noise.
  • Persistent and self-motivated, proactive to learn and take on new responsibilities.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
  • Good problem-solving skills and ability to meet demanding time constraints.
  • Ability to conduct and manage multiple projects and priorities.
  • Strong team player with the ability to influence/develop/maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Physical Requirements:

  • Excellent physical condition and flexibility to work shifts and overnight.
  • Occasional physical lifting required. Lifting and moving around machines with a typical weight of 30 pounds and/or other accessories.

Education / Experience:

  • University, College degree or technical training in IT, Computer Hardware, telecommunications, cabling infrastructure, or similar.
  • Minimum 1-year experience in a fast-paced IT field is required.
  • Experience in data center operations is preferred.
  • PC Skills – working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Google Apps.
  • Basic to intermediate knowledge of routers, switches, and servers.
  • Basic knowledge of power systems (RPPs, PDUs) cooling systems (HVACs, airflow dynamics).
