Title: Maintenance Scheduler

Position Type: Direct Hire

Location: Pueblo CO

Reports to: Maintenance Reliability Manager

Status: Exempt

Job Summary:

Excellent opportunity within a newly launched reliability maintenance program at new steel mill. This is a leading company in it’s sector for worldwide market. The role of the Maintenance Scheduler is to effectively balance manpower and resource requirements for planned daily, down day, or outage work to be performed through best practices, while maintaining operational goals for safety, quality and productivity of plant operations. As a team member of the Maintenance Department, the Scheduler reports to the Reliability Manager.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure the planned work is fully prepared to execute work from all sources such as scheduled outages, equipment failures, and preventative maintenance schedules, through direct collaboration with planning, supervision, procurement team as well as other stakeholders
  • Review planned work orders and determine the most beneficial work plan based on resource availability to align with forecasted plans
  • Create job packages and supplies job instructions, drawings, and safety documentation, pre-staged materials, and job duration estimates
  • Ensure proper administrative and material close-out of jobs
  • Compile metrics on completed down day and outage evolutions metrics to measure performance and compliance to planned schedules
  • Assist in development and maintenance of an electronic library of procedures, Job Safety Analyses (JSA's), checklists, drawings, contractor scopes, etc.
  • Work with planners and supervisors to manage the work order backlog in area of responsibility and priority
  • Create weekly down day as well as major outage evolutions to take advantage of scheduling maintenance jobs for these work orders, correctly classify and index work orders and other relevant data, and correct inaccuracies and duplicate work orders.
  • Foster innovation to develop an up-to-date asset reliability plan by utilizing industry best practices, in compliance with directives, for all critical plant equipment and select non-critical equipment
  • Establish cost effectiveness and include safety, environmental, production, and total cost of ownership goals that consist of the following elements:
  • Spare parts requirements
  • Preventive/predictive maintenance (PPM) plan, including detailed task procedures
  • Active or passive phase-out recommendations where appropriate
  • Management of master data on assets via closeouts of the company's Formal Change Notice process
  • Curation of process data to better measure asset performance issues

Job Requirements

  • Minimum of five years' industrial plant experience in repairs, including mechanical maintenance activities.
  • Experience in Heavy Industrial Maintenance such as steel mill, pulp/paper, oil & gas
  • Experience in planning and coordinating major maintenance/overhaul projects is a plus
  • Ability to work under extreme temperature and environmental conditions
  • Computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) experience - Oracle Preferred
  • Solid computer skills in Microsoft applications that includes Excel, Word, Project and Outlook

Compensation

  • $62,800-$80,000

Physical Requirements:

  • Sitting for long periods of time and working at keyboard and monitors
  • At times, may walk about plant using PPE

Education / Experience:

  • Minimum High school diploma. Two-year technical degree and/or technical training preferred
