Responsibilities

Under direct supervision, responsible for abstracting medical information and assigning PCS, ICD-9-CM, ICD-10-CM, and CPT codes to the medical records to facilitate billing and retrieval of medical information used by various agencies.

Qualifications

Job Requirements

  • Associate Degree in HIT or equivalent experience
  • Familiar with ICD-9-CM and CPT coding principles as well as Medicare and Medicaid regulations regarding coding.
  • Familiar with ICD-10-CM coding principles with training in ICD-10 completed or in progress.
  • Two (2) years’ experience in ICD-9-CM and CPT coding
  • RHIT or equivalent experience OR CCS or equivalent experience

Preferred Job Requirements

  • Medicare coding experience
