The Internal Audit Assistant will help to coordinate and participate in evaluations of the Companies’ systems of internal controls, which involves all procedures, policies and systems. Participates in financial audits, managerial audits, operational audits, acquisition reviews and compliance audits. Investigates suspicions of wrong-doing. Analyzes computerized business systems to determine if there are efficient and effective controls over data and assets. Coordinates audit and review activities between the Companies and external auditors, legal counsel, business affiliates and regulators, to ensure work is completed efficiently and according to professional standards.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Analytics or related fields is required.
• Training or experience in the use of common PC software such as Microsoft Word and EXCEL required.
• Basic understanding of auditing, internal controls, and general insurance industry knowledge is preferred.

Skills & Abilities:

• Basic understanding of internal audit concepts and techniques, professional audit standards and code of ethics, information technology systems, systems design, data analytics, accounting and taxation principles, fraud investigation techniques, insurance industry operations, regulations and statutory accounting principles.
• Ability to use various audit tools, such as flow charting, data analysis, visual observation, interviewing and statistical sampling in completing assignments.
• Ability to distinguish critical and non-critical matters when determining the significance of deficiencies.
• Ability to exercise professional judgment and take independent action in completing assignments, expressing opinions on reliability, accuracy, and compliance with internal control systems and operations, and formulating recommendations to improve efficiency / effectiveness.
• Ability to think and act calmly, logically, and rapidly under stress with a professional and confidential manner.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective, cooperative working relationships with superiors, peers and subordinates, internal and external auditees, external auditors, attorneys and regulators.
• Ability to utilize common PC software programs to perform audits and prepare audit documentation.
• Ability to work effectively on multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines as assigned.
• Ability to express observations and recommendations clearly and succinctly to auditees and management.
