Position Summary

We are currently looking for a Facilities General Helper who will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, safety and overall appearance of the manufacturing facility. This role plays a crucial part in ensuring a healthy and productive working environment for all employees. The Facilities General Helper will be responsible for assisting in installing, repairing, and maintaining minor building repairs in a manufacturing setting. This person should demonstrate excellent quality, production, teamwork, and safety awareness.

Requirements

Primary Responsibilities

The Facilities General Helper will have several Roles and Responsibilities including, but not limited to the following:

• Requires general maintenance of building, factory, and grounds.
• Performs minor maintenance tasks, such as changing light bulb fixtures and repairing minor plumbing issues.
• Will notify the maintenance team of any major repairs or building issues.
• Responsible for keeping inventory of general cleaning supplies and request restocking as needed.
• Responsible for sorting and properly disposing of recyclable materials.
• Transporting materials within the facility using powered industrial truck and/or other equipment.
• Ensure proper storage of facility tools and materials used for building maintenance.
• Responsible for coordinating proper waste disposal services for hazardous waste removal, wood, scrap and plastic materials.
• Report and safety hazards or issues to management.
• Ensure that walkways and emergency exist are clear and accessible.
• Follow proper chemical handling procedures including SDS (Safety Data Sheet) procedures for facility.
• Factory and grounds maintenance includes plumbing, and structure repairs and maintenance.
• Works from maintenance work orders, communicated with order originator and makes necessary repairs in a safe, acceptable, and timely manner.
• Knowledge and ability must be applied in objective priorities, safety, timely, and economically
• Necessary to know, understand, and perform shop theory, applicable specifications, codes, and ordinances.
• Accomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests.
• Must perform all work in accordance with all applicable safety procedures.
• Assist in other areas of need based on Supervisor/Manager discretion.
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Education, Experience & Qualifications

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• The ability and desire to work overtime is required.
• Regularly lift and/or move objects 20-25 lbs.; occasionally lift and/or move objects that weigh more than 100 lbs.
• Able to withstand temperatures in an evaporative cooled warehouse environment.
• 3-5 years’ experience in building maintenance and/or Facilities.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and guidance, exercising discretion and independent judgment.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operation and maintenance instructions, and equipment manuals; write routine reports and correspondence; follow written and/or verbal orders. Effective interpersonal skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Comprehend English.
• Capacity to apply understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.
• Understanding of and the ability to use continuous improvement tools, i.e., Kaizen, 5S.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software.
• Working knowledge of hand power tools.
