D. is a young man diagnosed with Down Syndrome. He and his family are looking for up to two people to support him at home and in the community (90742 area) for 15 to 20 hours per week, with one person working a set schedule and another person serving as a “backup” with more flexible availability to pick up and cover shifts as needed. You will be assisting D. with daily activities, college & homework support, fitness/going to the gym, support at his job as a busboy, and social activities; any travel and entrance costs you incur will be paid for.
Due to D.’s diagnosis, he receives funding from Regional Center of Orange County (https://www.rcocdd.com/) to meet his needs and for this service and staff. He is part of the Self-Determination Program (https://www.rcocdd.com/client-services/self-determination/) which is why his family can select their own staff. Specifically, you will be hired by a Financial Management Service (FMS), GT Independence, as a W-2 employee paid hourly at a rate of $20.00 per hour; payment will be twice per month. You must be able to pass a background check and have a driving record acceptable to the FMS to qualify for this position, as well as reliable transportation to be able to drive D. as needed. GT Independence will be your Employer of Record and who you will report on your taxes.
Please see below and attached to learn more about D. and determine if you are the person D. and his family need!

· Caring, with a big heart
· Social & kind

· Hard working & helpful
· Determined
· Funny; a jokester
YOU NEED TO:
· Have your own, reliable, car, a clean driving record, and be able to drive D. into the community as needed.
· Be fun! D. is fun and it will be better for both of you if you enjoy being with him.

D. NEEDS:
· Someone to be nearby him at all times to provide support if needed. He doesn’t need someone to speak for him, but he needs support with staying on task, not exiting a classroom before the designated time, etc.
· Help to be safe in the community. He may need reminders about crossing the street safely & remaining aware of cars.
· To follow a routine.
· Praise when he does well
