Job Description:

The Community Engagement Coordinator at the Food and Wellness Network (FAWN) serves as the liaison between FAWN and outside organizations and resources, responsible for building FAWN’s community presence as well as creating opportunities for outside organizations to support the FAWN community. The Community Engagement Coordinator supports FAWN’s external engagement and partnerships, including the recruitment and management of volunteers and interns and building a network of resources for clients through partnerships, educational workshops, access to public assistance, and referrals to other programs. Additionally, the Community Engagement Coordinator assists in the daily operations of the pantries.

*RESPONSIBILITIES:

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT AND COMMUNICATION

· Develops social media content and communication material for FAWN, including monthly newsletter

· Establishes partnerships with institutions, organizations, and programs that can provide resources and tools to FAWN clients based on their needs.

· Expands and implements FAWN’s wellness resource offerings (classes, workshops, tabling, info sessions, etc.)

· Seek feedback from clients on an annual basis through a client satisfaction survey to determine the wants/needs of our community member

· Coordinates and facilitates the Community Advisory Committee of pantry guests, volunteers, and partner organizations to inform pantry services and offerings

PARTNERSHIPS

· Works to strengthen and grow FAWN community partnership network, including inviting organizations to provide resources during pantry hours, and hosting organizations to conduct wellness workshops at least once per month

· Represents FAWN at community meetings, resource fairs, events, etc.

· Coordinates logistics for pop-up pantries when relevant

· Coordinates the packing of bags for CUAs/other Turning Points programs and partner organizations

INTERN & VOLUNTEER RECRUITMENT

· Recruits interns from Philadelphia area colleges, universities, and high schools to support FAWN pantry operations, provide research, and lead projects that enhance TPFC and FAWN’s mission.

· Recruits a volunteer base to support pantry operations including unloading and storing food donations, stocking pantry shelves, and staffing the pantry during open hours.

· Orients new interns and volunteers to all TPFC and FAWN pantry policies, procedures, and expectations.

ADMINISTRATIVE

· Supports data collection necessary to track consumer information and service history.

· Assists in daily operations of the food pantry and nutrition education classes.

*SKILLS:

· Ability to assist both English and Spanish speaking consumers. Bilingual preferred.

· Culturally sensitive to the needs and diversities of multi‐cultural communities.

· Skills in typing, basic computer operations, Microsoft, PowerPoint, Excel.

· Strong organizational skills.

· Knowledge of social services, child welfare and family systems services.

· Knowledge of hunger relief systems, health promotion, and nutrition education.

· Able to work independently, demonstrating good judgment and prioritizing.

· Must be accurate and detail oriented.

· Flexibility and willingness to learn and take on new tasks.

· Practices good customer service skills in all working relationships.

· Strong interpersonal skills, respectful, and courteous nature.

· Strong writing and oral presentations skills.

· Current driver’s license and good driving record.

*EXPERIENCE:

Minimum 2 years’ experience working or volunteering in a social service program or a hunger relief program.

*PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS / WORKING CONDITIONS / EXPOSURES:

*EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:

Bachelor’s in social work, public health or a related field required.
