*JOB OVERVIEW:

Public Health Management Corporation (PHMC) seeks a versatile communications professional with strong writing and management skills to join its fast-paced Strategy Development team. The Communications Manager is responsible for external communications and stakeholder relations related to the special projects directed by the Strategy Development Department. The Communications Manager provides communications and creative support to the following projects including but not limited to the Pennsylvania Public Health Association (PPHA), the Delaware Public Health Institute, the Health Network, Pennsylvania Nutrition Education Network (PA NEN), the Public Health Infrastructure Grant Program (PHIG) and the Community Health Worker Training Program (CHW CORE). Communications responsibilities include managing multiple websites, social media accounts, email newsletters, print media, marketing campaigns and graphic design. The Communications Manager supports member relations including generation of communications, marketing materials, and database management. The Communications Manager reports to the Senior Director of Strategy Development.

This position is located in Philadelphia.

Hours: Monday through Friday, 8:30 am - 5:00 pm

*RESPONSIBILITIES:

Program Management:

· Under the direction of team leadership, implements strategic marketing communications plans in support of public health programs. Collaborates with team members on delivery of all external communications, assisting with development and management of editorial calendar, copywriting, editing and providing creative support as needed.

· Provides support in development and execution of public health programs’ marketing channels and deliverables.

· Facilitate the creative conversation and direction for communications in alignment with program goals and objectives.

· Generate and routinely update explanatory and promotional materials for the public health programs.

· Develops and implement branding guides for individual programs.

· Advises on and implements web designs for the various public health programs.

· Coordinates and collaborates with external vendors to support websites and marketing.

· Manages membership database for PA NEN and PPHA (data entry, management, software updates), PA NEN CookWith app content and user database, and PPHA and PA NEN Mail Chimp

· Creates and implements a metrics-driven communications strategy using Sprout Social, Google Analytics, Google Webmaster Tools, and other digital media data. Develops monthly reports in partnership with PHMC R&E to provide ongoing real time evaluation of impact.

· Consult and manage social media content schedule and ad delivery budget for various social marketing campaigns.

· Oversees creation of various public health programs newsletters.

· Manages website development and updates for PPHA, CHW CORE, PHIG and PA NEN.

· Supports marketing, design, and promotions for events including webinars, annual conferences, and other in person/online training opportunities.

· Supports design, branding, and creating graphics for PowerPoint presentations and promotion of webinars, trainings, etc.

· Edits and formats all print and digital media (handouts, promotions, brochures, signs) to adhere to branding and funder guidelines.

· Write articles, reports, and presentations and perform extensive copy editing to submit to publications and conferences.

· Attend meeting, conferences, and other external convenings to present on communication and social marketing work being doing by public health programs. Some travel is required.

· Assist with onboarding new employees to orient them to PHMC’s Strategy Development Team and the public health programs objectives, branding, and communications.

· Seeks new methods on creative strategies to increase external awareness of public health programs, social marketing campaigns, and key events.

Leadership Responsibilities:

· Support development of resources for the public health programs including but not limited to new digital platforms, data bases, and project management software.

· Serve as primary liaison to PHMC communications department.

· Advise team leadership on communications, membership growth strategies, and outreach metrics.

· Provides supervision and oversight of one or more interns to complete project deliverables in line with program goals and institutional requirements.

· Train staff on best practices for social media, public speaking, PowerPoint presentations, and other communications.

· Manage, consult, and support special projects as needed.

SKILLS:

· Excellent written, oral, and visual communications skills

· Excellent copy editing/proof reading skills and knowledge of AP Style

· Social media and marketing (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, Sprout Social)

· Manage staff and work effectively in a team environment.

· Experienced in WordPress, Google Sites, Mail Chimp or similar content management systems and HTML.

· Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel)

· Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator)

· Excellent organizational skills, multi-tasking, attention to detail and ability to handle multiple projects at one time with excellent results

· Ability and will to take initiative

*EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:

· Bachelor’s degree in communications or marketing required.

· Master’s degree with 3-5 years of professional work experience required.

· Successful writing, communications, website content management, and project management experience required. Experience with membership outreach and graphic design desired.
