Title: Transportation Supervisor ~ Special Education $2,500 Sign-On Bonus
Position Type: Full-time
Location: Annandale, Virginia

What the Transportation Supervisor does:
Supervises the vehicles, equipment, service and passengers for the safe and efficient operation of the transportation services.
Supervision and Leadership:
- Oversee all aspects of PHILLIPS Programs’ vehicle use, including purchasing/selling, assignment, and driver/ridership.
- Stay informed about students’ behavioral, medical, and physical needs related to transportation.
- Provide leadership to address transportation system issues.
- Continuously review and enhance transportation systems for efficiency.
Direct Service:
- Serve as the primary contact for jurisdictional transportation departments.
- Establish direct communication with parents and stakeholders regarding student transportation.
- Assist during student crises and problem-solving.
Staff Management:
- Verify staff records for driving ability for off-campus activities.
- Confirm employee eligibility to drive the Activity Bus.
Administration:
- Maintain up-to-date vehicle records, including maintenance, repairs, and licensing.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations.
- Develop and integrate the Transportation Procedures Manual for all school transportation functions.
- Monitor assigned transportation budgets and contribute to budget development.
- Maintain records of incidents and actions.
- Coordinate transportation operations with PHILLIPS Programs school, including calendar development, parent presence on buses, and addressing bus behavioral issues.
Other:
- Collaborate with other transportation providers to ensure smooth student transportation to PHILLIPS Programs.
- Manage unscheduled school closings, delays, or early releases by consulting with relevant personnel and ensuring timely communication.
- Provide support to the Operations Manager.
- Assist the Medical Assistant as needed, including delivering medications during field trips.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Experience in school bus transportation in a supervisor/managerial role preferred
- Experience with special needs children preferred
