Phillips Companies is Hiring a Project Estimator Near Beavercreek, OH

Job Description:

Our company is looking for a Project Estimator to join our team. Using blueprints, job specifications, and their own experience, provides labor, material, and equipment cost estimates for excavating, utility, and related projects. They are accountable for all pre-construction activities including securing contracts, writing purchase orders, reviewing submittals and developing project budgets. The Estimator then communicates the budgetary guidelines for awarded projects to hand the job off to the Department Project and Operations Managers prior to the start of construction.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform detailed utility take-offs to determine material quantities.
  • Perform earthwork take-offs to determine soil quantities, including cut/fills and import/export using Trimble Business Center.
  • Solicit pricing for required materials from qualified vendors.
  • Solicit pricing for work outside of Phillips’ scope of ability from qualified subcontractors.
  • Prepare cost estimates and bid proposals.
  • Prepare budgets for secured projects.
  • Prepare subcontracts and purchase orders for secured projects.
  • Assist with the daily responsibilities of the Project Manager as needed in the event of the Project Manager’s vacation / time off / illness.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Skills:

  • Over 5 years of knowledge and experience estimating projects in the excavating industry
  • Thorough knowledge of Trimble Business Center earthwork estimating and GPS site management software.
  • Thorough knowledge of HCSS Heavy Bid bidding and Heavy Job project management software.
  • Strong analytic and math skills, detail oriented.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Proficient in reading and accurately interpreting blueprints, specifications and geotechnical reports
  • Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office programs and other industry related programs
  • An Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management preferred

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $75,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
