The Assistant Director for Special Admission Programs (ADSAP) manages the day-to-day operations of the University's special admissions programs (e.g., Second Chance Pell, CNA/Allied Health Programs, and Philander Smith Management Institution (PSMI)). In this role, the ADSAP coordinates and manages the recruitment and application processing for these programs, which have admissions requirements beyond the traditional admissions process. The Assistant Director serves on campus committees along with, or in place of, the Director.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILfflES:
1. Collaborates with the Director in the development, implementation, and administration of the admissions processes for a portfolio of Special Admissions Programs, including Second Chance Pell (SCP), Allied Health Programs, and the Philander Smith Management Institution (PSMI).
2. Conducts outreach and recruitment activities with a specific focus on the SCP and PSMI programs.
3. Collaborates with campus partners to setup admissions/enrollment systems that communicate across departments and the campus.
4. Manages and oversees staff training materials, including the Special Admissions Program manual.
5. Provide guidance and ensure timely completion of admissions-related activities, including financial aid, document submission, and program-specific requirements, to facilitate timely registration.
6. Facilitates submission of admission documents and requirements, placement testing, new student orientation, registration of Second Chance Pell students each semester.
7. Works closely with correctional partners in carrying out the day-to-day academic, support, and administrative functions of the Second Chance Pell program.
8. Works with PSMI program staff to identify, recruit, and enroll students who meet program requirements.
9. Ensure student admissions files are complete and accurate. Facilitates transfer of student files to University's Registrar's Office. 10. Other duties as assigned by the Director.
EDUCATION: Bachelor's Degree
EXPERIENCE: Four (4) years of experience in a university admissions/recruitment setting preferred. The position requires the ability to communicate effectively with prospective students, parents, faculty and staff as well as the ability to represent the admissions office at local, state, and national functions as required. Proficiency in enrollment services technology such as Jenzabar and communication tools is preferred.
