Philander Smith University (PSC) is a private, residential, four-year undergraduate liberal arts college affiliated with The United Methodist Church. Little Rock is the state capital of Arkansas and is located at the foothills of the beautiful Ozark Mountains on the south bank of the Arkansas River. Position Summary:

The Department of Philosophy and Religion seeks to hire several adjuncts to teach introductory and upper level courses these positions require a dedication to teaching and a passion for working with HBCU students. At Philander Smith University, adjunct faculty instructors are an integral part of the college community and as such are entrusted with the responsibility of providing a quality learning experience for College students on a semester basis. Adjunct faculty report directly to their respective Department Chairs for guidance and instruction-related duties and responsibilities per the college's mission, policies, and procedures.

Adjuncts are needed to teach the following courses: PHRE I03 Philosophy and Education.

PHRE 223 Critical and Affective Thinking PHRE233 Survey of the Biblical Traditions PHRE263 Intro to Epistemology

PHRE 313 Logic

PHRE 333 Philosophy of Mind PHRE 353 Applied Ethics PHRE 393 Feminist Philosophy

Required Qualifications Minimum Requirements: A Master's Degree with 18 graduate hours in Philosophy and/ or Religion is required for college transferable courses. The successful candidate will possess the competence and experience to develop, revise, implement, and assess curriculum to ensure that students acquire necessary skills, including familiarity with technology used in classroom settings. The ability to utilize web-based educational technology is expected. The successful candidate should also possess a thorough knowledge of the teaching field, a commitment to high academic standards, a dedication to student success, and excellent written, oral communication and interpersonal skills.
