THE ORGANIZATION

A private nonprofit organization founded in 1973, Philadelphia Corporation for Aging (PCA) is a large agency that is part of the Area Agency on Aging (AAA) nationwide network. Requirements

Description of Role: Under the supervision of the MDC Assistant Manager, is responsible for assisting with supervising packing staff as well as overseeing and coordination the food packing process including but not limited to assembling, packing, and organizing meals and compliments for delivery to home-delivered meal consumers. This position also assists with interviewing, onboarding and training new employees in the Packer position. Serves as back-up to both the Packers position and to the MDC Assistant Manager.

Required Education: High School diploma or equivalent. 

Required Experience: 

  • Five years’ working experience with at least two years’ supervisory experience.
  • Experience working in a food service or production facility preferred.
  • Working knowledge of safe food handling and sanitation guideline and practices.
  • ServSafe certification a plus.

Job Responsibilities:

  1. In the Absence of the MDC Assistant Manager, performs all duties of the position.
  2. Under the direction and guidance of the MDC Assistant Manager, assist in supervision packing staff ensuring staff is following PCA/MDC policies and procedures. 
  3. Assign daily tasks for Packing staff including organizing the packing schedule and coordination of up to 2,000 daily consumer deliveries. 
  4. Assist with transporting meals to and from storage area.
  5. Assemble and package meals and complements for home delivered meal consumers.
  6. Consult with Inventory Management and Choice Meals Coordinator to ensure meals are packed and ready for delivery according to Daily Production Sheets.
  7. Organize and verify choice meals by delivery routes.
  8. Maintain a clean and orderly work area.
  9. Ensure routes are set up for the following day according to Daily Production Sheets.
  10. Assist MDC Manager/ MDC Assistant Manager in interviewing potential job applicants; provides consultation and recommendations for potential new hires.
  11. Provide onboarding and job training for new packers.
  12. Participate in the Packer evaluation process with MDC Assistant Manager.
  13. Complete weekly staff meetings to review packing performance results.
  14. In coordination with MDC Assistant Manager/MDC Manager, issue verbal counseling and coaching as needed.
  15. Complete quarterly safety training classes.
  16. Perform other duties as assigned.
