SUMMARY

The Preoperative Chart Preparation Coordinator reviews and assesses all patients scheduled for surgery, working with the Primary Providers, Surgeons and Anesthesia team to ensure each patient is an appropriate candidate by helping acquire necessary documents. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Incumbent must have the skills, ability and judgment to perform the following essential job duties and responsibilities with or without reasonable accommodation:

1. Compiles and collaborates with providers offices to obtain appropriate documentation for patient charts including, but not limited to: H&P within 30 days, labs, EKG, etc.
2. Communicates special needs for surgery to the Supervisor of Same Day Surgery, Supervisor of Surgery and/or Director of Surgical Services.
3. Directs calls to appropriate place within or outside the hospital.
4. Skills require critical thinking, decisive judgement and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and take appropriate action.
5. Adheres to Infection Control Policies and Procedures and the use of Universal Precautions.
6. Possesses knowledge of PMHC's Safety policies, procedures and protocols i.e. fire, safety, disaster and tornado.
7. Independently maintains and updates skills as BLS certification, required inservices and continuing education for professional improvement.
8. Promotes effective interdepartmental and intradepartmental communications.
9. Presents a professional, pleasant and positive image.
10. Maintains patient and employee confidentiality at all times.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Reports directly to the Supervisor of Same Day Serivces and/or Director of Surgical Services.

REQUIRED EDUCATION

1. High School diploma or GED. 
2. Certified Medical Assistant training and/or LPN.

1. Current BLS certification.
