Phelps Dunbar LLP is an AmLaw 200 full-service law firm. The Accounts Receivable Assistant will communicate with Firm attorneys and clients to provide necessary collection assistance of delinquent accounts. Duties include preparing and sending collection e-mails, obtaining information for clients, researching and resolving appeals and deductions by coordinating with the billing and handling attorneys, performing account reconciliations, and assisting appropriate personnel with cash applications. The ideal candidate must have exemplary communication skills and prior law firm experience with understanding of e-billing platforms and legal services billing procedures and practices is a plus. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Contact clients to resolve past due balances
• Proactively work with attorneys on appeals of deductions
• Track electronic invoices for payment delays
• Document all collection activity and efforts into specified database
• Mail routine monthly reminder statements
• Reconcile payments and research discrepancies
• Prepare write off reports as necessary
• Heavy contact with Firm clients via telephone; e-mail and correspondence
• Perform other collections responsibilities as required
