As an Employment Consultant, you will get to make a direct impact on the lives of students and adults with varying abilities. You’ll help people explore their work interests, connect with local businesses, and assist in obtaining a job and keeping it or advancing their career. You’ll get to see people develop skills they may not have known they had. You’ll get to see the pride and increased independence that the people you work with experience.
We have openings in our Pine City, Sandstone, Cambridge and Mora location. This is a full-time positions with flexible schedules. In addition, vehicles are available for you to drive while proving support to the participants you serve.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
  • The Employment Consultant works with clients from the Community Vocational Assessment, Work Adjustment Training, and Placement Programs.
  • The Employment Consultant conducts situational assessments with clients, assists clients in developing and reestablishing work skills, assists clients to obtain and retain employment, and assists clients with work related life skills and Independent Living skills training.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES: 
  • An Employment Consultant must be a self-starter and motivator of others and possess the ability to work as a team member. Demonstrate flexibility and the ability to perform multiple tasks with frequent changes in duties.
  • The Employment Consultant must demonstrate understanding of the special needs of a person with a disability and be sensitive and respectful of persons with disabilities.
  • Demonstrate a desire to train, supervise and develop persons with disabilities and assist them in becoming independent.
  • The Employment Consultant must also demonstrate the ability to work with minimal supervision.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 
  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to perform basic math skills.
  • Ability and desire to work independently with staff and clients.
  • Demonstrate professionalism.
  • Observe the work environment at the local business for natural support.
  • Assist client with identifying work-related barriers and ways to address them to help them be successful.
  • Ensure there is a respectful relationship between the employer and the client.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds occasionally. Ability to push, pull, bend, twist, stoop, climb, reach, and lift as needed.
  • Assign duties and ensure tasks are accomplished.
  • Inspect clients work performed at the local business.
  • Record client time and attendance information in designated software for payroll.
  • Maintain pertinent work-related records including productivity reports, attendance records, case notes, incident reports, and daily training records.
  • Accurately evaluate client’s progress through observation and documentation.
  • Transport clients to local business locations. Must maintain insurability and a valid MN driver’s license.
  • Instruct client regarding safe and proper use of tools and equipment.
  • Acquaint self with all job duties required to be performed and in turn train the client.
  • Complete assessments and summaries on client’s skills, abilities, and employability. Make recommendations for vocational goals.
  • Be responsible for the organization’s Safety program by monitoring work areas to maintain hazard free environment. Report unsafe and unhealthy conditions in your area to your supervisor or point of contact at work site.
  • Assist in assistive technology to help clients complete job tasks.
  • Maintain and carry the training site book appropriate for the local business you will be working at with your client.
  • Develop and promote mutual understanding and respect between PHASE/Industries Inc., the client, the community employer and non-disabled employees.
  • Maintain CARF Standards.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Work as a team member and realize that how you do your job affects others’ jobs and the success of clients supported by PHASE/Industries Inc.
  • Other duties as assigned by a supervisor or director.
