SUMMARY: Pharmgate is passionate about developing high quality, innovative animal health products. We seek your innovation, skills and knowledge regarding virology including molecular virology, immunology, and infectious disease to help us research and develop cutting edge, proprietary biologicals for the livestock industry. The person filling this role must have demonstrable experience as a bench-level scientist, preferably with experience in vaccine development including conducting host animal studies. Must be detail-oriented and possess great communication skills and ability to follow written and oral instructions. Preference will be given to candidates with a proven track record of success working in collaborative team environments and those that have been involved in the development of biologicals.
REQUIRED QUALIFACTIONS:
PREFERABLE QUALIFICATIONS: Preference will be given to candidates with the knowledge, skill, and/or ability listed below:
· 5 years experience with microbiology/ traditional vaccine/ mRNA vaccine work.
· 2-3 years of experience in an industrial R&D research laboratory.
· Working knowledge of USDA regulations.
· Experience in the design and execution of experiments to assess safety and efficacy of novel vaccines.
· Experience with agriculture animal infectious disease vaccines.
· Experience evaluating vaccine adjuvants and novel delivery systems.
· Experience with mRNA work (transcription, transfection, etc.)
· Experience with Intracellular bacteria culture
· Experience with lab animal work
· Experience with Mid-Large scale of mammalian cell culture (suspension)
· Experience with Mid-Large scale of bacteria culture
· Experience with Microaerophile and/or Anaerobic Culture
EDUCATION:
· Ph.D. or DVM degree in Virology, Microbiology or related discipline (Biochemistry, lipid nano particle delivery) OR Master’s with significant experience (5-7 years).
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to both office settings and laboratory environments. Laboratory setting includes exposure to and working with laboratory research animals. Occasional exposure to manufacturing environments with moving mechanical parts. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This job has no current supervisory responsibility.
