PGS Worldwide is Hiring a Maintenance Worker Near Huntsville, AL

PGS Worldwide is actively seeking skilled Maintenance Workers to support ongoing projects for an Aerospace leader in Huntsville, AL. This is an initial 7-month contract-to-hire opportunity and I will respond immediately to all qualified candidates.

Job Description:

  • Installs and maintains a wide variety of pumps, blowers, motors, machine shop and other mechanical equipment.
  • Erects and secures staging, hoists and rigging in compliance with codes and safety practices.
  • Fabricates and installs hangers, brackets and other securing devices to secure equipment as necessary.
  • Shims and balances equipment as necessary.
  • Uses welding, cutting and other equipment as required.
  • Performs a variety of complex masonry work required to maintain or extend building use.
  • Oversees the installation and movement of a variety of light, medium and heavy equipment using special tools and equipment such as staging, hoists and rigging. Erects and secures staging, hoists and rigging in compliance with codes and safety practices.
  • Removes fixtures such as pictures, doorknobs, lamps, and electric switch covers prior to painting.
  • Demonstrates basic knowledge of sheet rock replacement or repair.
  • Assists with modular and systems furniture moves.
  • Repairs toilets and urinals facets as needed.
  • Replaces lights as needed.
  • Repairs or replaces ceiling tiles as needed.
  • Provides general maintenance in the facility (adjusts and oils doors, carpet repairs, hangs signage, etc.).
  • Set up for major events as needed.
  • Works from blueprints, equipment drawings and schematics, manufacturers specifications and literature.
  • Plans complex jobs, selects materials and equipment for proper completion.
  • Calculates amounts of required materials and estimates costs.
  • Ensures that the performance of these activities are well documented.
  • Collects, sorts and stores hazardous waste material in accordance with federal, state and local regulations. May be required to clean and service equipment that may contain hazardous substances and to participate in the sorting and accumulation of hazardous waste materials in accordance with federal, state and local regulations.
  • Works with and escorts contractors/vendors.
  • Calculates amounts of required materials and estimates costs.
  • Works with and supports the IMT/BCM teams.
  • Helps with CSI duties.
  • Does touch ups around the site as needed.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as required.

Requirements:

  • Requires a High School or Trade School diploma or its equivalent and at least five (5) years of general maintenance experience.
  • Both introductory and continued training in cleaning and servicing equipment that may contain hazardous substances and in the handling, documentation and movement of the hazardous waste will be required. This training will be provided by IEWS, and documentation will be maintained in the corporate Environmental Affairs Office.
  • US Citizenship.
