Description
PGP International is a vibrant organization that has been serving the food industry for over 40 years, with a mission to provide nutrition and texture to on-the-go food and convenience products.
The primary objective of the Operations Controller role is to work as part of the Finance and Operations Teams, to drive operational performance improvement and manage operational control risks.
The Plant Controller will lead the financial activity for all operations and provide all necessary financial insights to the VP of Operations and Operations Leadership Team. In addition, the Plant Controller is deeply involved in activities related to period closing, and reporting, standard costing, budgeting and forecasting, variance and cost analysis, inventory controls and Operations process compliance.
Key Accountabilities:
Identify any financial control weaknesses within the facility operating environment and suggest mitigations which may include process development and design ideas.
Review production jobs for batch variances and all inventory related adjustment transactions. Identify reasoning behind needed adjustments and use analytical and influencing skills to drive changes to processes and controls to improve results.
Work with Site Manager to develop planned overhead expense and supply chain variances related to Operations. Provide analysis and insightful reasoning of performances to plans.
Review month end cost center forecast variances and provide insightful analysis of variance drivers and work with site managers to redirect efforts to meet and exceed performance objectives.
Provide other project support and analysis as determined by site and corporate leadership (which may reach beyond Operations).
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in a related field.
2 - 5 years of plant or corporate analysis related to supply chain operations and operating controls and at least 2 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment.
Ability to create relevant financial analysis and relate results to operational behaviors for the purpose of driving actionable decisions and improvements.
Ability to use personal skillsets to aid peers and leadership team in making appropriate business decisions based on fact and analysis and/or drive change to improve performance.
Knowledge of basic accounting principles pertaining to accruals, inventory costs, fixed asset capitalization and other supply chain related technical accounting.
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and with various written forms (e.g., presentations, narratives) to present concise explanations or courses of actions to peers and leadership.
