Description

Position Purpose

Tasks

  • Collaborate with other departments to integrate logistics with business systems or processes, such as customer sales, order management, accounting, or shipping.
  • Supervise the work of International logistics team members.
  • Create policies or procedures for International logistics services.
  • Manage operations to ensure achievement of cost, productivity, accuracy, or timeliness objectives.
  • Resolve problems concerning transportation, logistics systems, imports or exports, or customer issues.
  • Analyze all aspects of International logistics to determine the most cost-effective or efficient means of transporting products or supplies.
  • Negotiate transportation rates or services.
  • Establish or monitor specific supply chain-based performance measurement systems.
  • Participate in carrier management processes, such as selection, qualification, or performance evaluation.
  • Oversee import or export processes to ensure compliance with regulatory or legal requirements.
  • Ensure carrier compliance with company policies or procedures.
  • Plan or implement improvements to internal or external logistics systems or processes.
  • Recommend optimal transportation modes, routing, equipment, or frequency.
  • Maintain metrics, reports, process documentation, customer service logs, or training or safety records.
  • Implement specific customer requirements, such as internal reporting or customized transportation metrics.
  • Negotiate with suppliers or customers to improve supply chain efficiency or sustainability.
  • Communicate freight transportation information to customers or suppliers, using transportation management system to improve efficiency, speed, or quality of transportation services.
  • Train department team members in roles or responsibilities regarding global logistics strategies.
  • Design models for use in evaluating logistics programs or services.

Sale Support Tasks

  • Comply with and enhance the new customer setup process.
  • Oversee the on boarding process for national accounts and developing concrete and well-written implementation guides and SOPs.
  • Resolve customer complaints regarding sales and service.
  • Assist Global Sales Directors in devising solutions to meet client needs on an ad hoc basis.
  • Determine price schedules and rates that will be competitive in your market area.
  • Review operational records and reports to project sales and determine profitability.
  • Monitor and/or provide customer preferences to determine the focus of sales initiatives.
  • Confer or consult with management team to plan advertising services and to secure information on equipment and customer specifications.

Qualifications


Education and Experience

Years of Experience: 5-8 Years of Freight Forwarding experience with increasing levels of responsibility with Export/Import Operations Management

Education: Industry related degree and/or certification

Knowledge

Transportation — Knowledge of principles and methods for moving people or goods by air, rail, sea, or road, including the relative costs and benefits.

Customer and Personal Service — Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.

Administration and Management — Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.

Production and Processing — Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.

Public Safety and Security — Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote effective local, state, or national security operations for the protection of people, data, property, and institutions.

Personnel and Human Resources — Knowledge of principles and procedures for personnel recruitment, selection, training, compensation and benefits, labor relations and negotiation, and personnel information systems.

Computers and Electronics — Knowledge of circuit boards, processors, chips, electronic equipment, and computer hardware and software, including applications and programming.

Education and Training — Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and the measurement of training effects.

Mathematics — Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications.

Economics and Accounting — Knowledge of economic and accounting principles and practices, the financial markets, banking and the analysis and reporting of financial data.
