Keowee Vineyards hosted 22,311 rounds in 2023. Amenities at Keowee Vineyards include a 20,000 square-foot clubhouse, full-service marina and pool, equestrian center, seasonal lakehouse restaurant / event center and wellness center.

The Cliffs at Keowee Vineyards is searching for a Head Golf Professional to manage and execute the day-to-day golf operations of the facility.

All duties of the position shall be performed in a manner consistent with The Cliffs core values, principles, and beliefs with a commitment to the highest level of customer service.

The Head Golf Professional will report to the Director of Golf.

We are seeking candidates who have earned their PGA membership and have served as the lead or first assistant for a minimum of 2 years.

The ideal candidate must possess outstanding communication skills with both members and staff. If you have a passion for the game of golf, previous experience in either a private or resort establishment, and have a proven record of providing an exceptional service, we have a position for you!

Experience Required

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred with PGA Class A membership
  • Minimum of 2 years as lead or first Assistant Golf Professional at private or resort facility
  • Proficient in computer applications including Word, Excel, POS and inventory control systems, tournament programs, and Microsoft Outlook
  • Excellent communication / relational skills, an outgoing personality, professional appearance, and passion and enthusiasm for the business
  • Ability to work flexible hours to include nights, weekends, and holidays

Essential Responsibilities

Key Areas of Responsibility :

  • Enhance the day to day Member Atmosphere by delivering consistent quality in a creative way to provide a fun, cool experience.
  • Developing our staff into a great team through organized work, systematic operations and training, and a learning environment that allows for improvement.
  • Run a successful business that is profitable by making sound business decisions and searching for organizational efficiencies.
  • Merchandising including the selection of products and services within guidelines created through an annual buying plan.
  • Weekly Men’s and Ladies Golf Group Administration
  • Tournament Operations including event execution with Golf Genius
  • Group and Individual Golf Instruction
  • Event Planning and Marketing
  • Member Website Updates
  • Club Fitting

Specific Responsibilities - include but are not limited to :

  • Uphold The Cliffs Core Values, Principles, and Beliefs
  • Assist with golfer check-in and fee collection; control and manage play
  • Assist in managing facility tournament operations including weekly events
  • Assist in tournament operations and weekly events including planning, event billing, promotion, course set-up, preparation, scoring, prize distribution, and follow up
  • Conduct group clinics
  • Coordinate men’s, women’s, and couples’ events and programs
  • Manage outside service staff to ensure the highest quality of customer service is achieved
  • Assist in managing golf cart operation, practice facility, and club storage service (as applicable)
  • Perform club fittings and club repair services - including operating Launch Monitor technology for enhanced fitting service and accuracy
  • Administer the club’s USGA Handicap System in cooperation with the Handicap Committee and GolfHits
  • Assist in the inventory control of hard goods, soft goods, and special orders including : ordering procedures, receiving procedures, inputting into point of sale, pricing procedures, display, and sales
  • Promote hard good and soft good sales
  • Play golf with a variety of members and guests in competitive and non-competitive situations
  • Assist in planning and budgeting for the golf operations
  • Conduct oneself in a professional manner and maintain a professional image at all times
  • Assist with the administration of applicable staff via recordkeeping, work schedules, etc. in accordance with facility human resource policies
  • Assist in coordinating golf activities with other departments
