Pfaudler is Hiring a QC Inspector Near Rochester, NY

Level 3 – Rate Class 13:

Receives Basic Training to become more familiar with Pfaudler products.

Under supervision of either a Quality Engineer, a Level I or a Level II QC Inspector, performs the following:

  • Interacts with the Authorized Inspector (ASME AI), Product Engineering, Weld Engineering and Shop Supervision.
  • Inspects material, in process components and completed equipment to assure compliance with Engineering drawings, ASME Code, Pfaudler Manufacturing and Quality requirements.
  • Documents inspection result after performing visual and dimensional checks to verify compliance. Writes NCRs as required to document nonconforming items.
  • Assures all testing and documentation are complete prior to release for the next operation.
  • Works with Quality Engineering to assure correct material identification and marking of incoming ASME Code material prior to release for manufacturing use.
  • Witness hydrostatic tests, record necessary information and results, and notify the area Supervisor or his/her designee for Authorized Inspector (AI) inspection.
  • Perform Liquid Penetrant Inspection (Dye-Check) Level II.
  • Performs visual and voltage tests on glassed equipment.
  • Work with Assembly and Quality Engineering to assure compliance to Pfaudler and customer requirements including paint thickness, special marking and loose parts prior to shipment.

The QC Inspector position requires daily computer use including performing tasks in Microsoft Office, Outlook, SharePoint, and M3. Strong written and verbal communication skills are needed.

Shall have an opportunity to learn welding to gain a better understanding of the process. The QC Inspector will not perform welding on production parts, etc. Inspections are performed both internal and external. Inspections may require the use of ladders and/or platforms. Proper safety and PPE procedures will be followed.

Testing: Candidates who post for an opening must pass the QC Inspector Level 3 (formerly the QC Inspector Job #110 Rate Class 13 test). 

Level 2 – Rate Class 15:

Under supervision (if required) of either a Quality Engineer or a Level I Inspector, performs the following:

  • May assist in training other QC Inspectors.
  • Performs all QC Inspector Level 3 tasks.
  • Works with Quality Engineering on Customer Inspections.
  • Train to polish glass defects to an acceptable level.
  • Performs Quality audits at the direction of Quality Engineering.

A Level II QC Inspector will be trained in Radiography (X-Ray) after safety training, attending Radiography (X-Ray) Level I training classes at Company expense.

Qualified inspectors who advance to the QC Inspector Level 2 position will be expected to train, either through internal or external resources, to become NDT Level II Certified.

Level 1 – Rate Class 16.5

Under little supervision, performs the following:

  • Continues in-house training in Radiography (X-Ray) and attends Radiography (X-Ray) Level II training classes at Company expense.
  • Assists in the training of other Inspectors.
  • Performs all QC Inspector tasks (includes QC Inspector Level 2 and 3 tasks).

A Level II QC Inspector will have an opportunity to learn drive assembly but will not perform work in a production capacity.

Qualified inspectors who advance to the QC Inspector Level 1 position must be trained and proficient as a QC Inspector Level 2 and must be NDT Level II certified in PT. In addition, s/he will be expected to train, either through internal or external resources, to become NDT Level II Certified in RT.

Testing: Candidates who post for an opening must pass the Inspector I test in order to qualify for the position.

In the QC Inspector position (all levels), partial sign-offs will not be permitted. Opting to sign off at any level of this job will result in full sign-off and loss of seniority in the position.
