• Supervision of detainees and detainee activity in detention facilities.
• Provides care and correctional treatment of detainees.
• Manages detainee holding areas.
• Ensures that detainees remain in custody.
• Transports and escorts detainees within secured areas according to relevant laws, policies, and procedures.
• Contributes to the maintenance of institution security and safety standards.
• Performs searches on detainees and visitors for contraband items.
• Checks mail for contraband, such as weapons or drugs.
• Prepares incident reports and other documentation of conduct.
• Enforces rules and regulations governing facility security, detainee conduct, detainee accountability, and keep order within the jail.
• Conducts accurate headcounts.
• Inventories detainees’ personal property and issues receipts.
• Break up physical confrontations and protect detainees and fellow officers from harm.
• Provides emergency assistance as needed, including but not limited to CPR, first aid, escape of detainees, and evacuation procedures.
• Supervise activities of detainees.
