JOB TITLE: Area Retail Performance Manager
REPORTS TO: VP of Sales
DRIVING POSITION:  Yes
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:  Yes
SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
The Area Retail Performance Manager is expected to effectively plan, develop, evaluate, and execute all of the responsibilities assigned in a multi retail store environment. The role requires a significant level of leadership and industry knowledge in order to drive overall operation of the Area including measuring business trends, maximizing sales/profitability, developing employees, and controlling expenses.
In this role, you will collaborate with business and team leaders within other Areas as well as at the corporate office. A focus will be on our customer’s expectations, anticipating, preventing problems, and striving for continuous improvement resulting in positive growth for your Area guests, and employees.
POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Builds a culture that is focused on feedback, accountability, team building and taking action when pet care, behaviors, performance, and or the work environment is not aligned with the company’s vision.
  • Maximizes sales performance through the development of competitive selling strategies that align with our business model, and manages overall profitability including sales, volume, and cost controls.
  • Develops detailed understanding of market and customer needs and remains open to new ideas and thoughts.
  • Manages and develops all business from a revenue and expense standpoint.
  • With the assistance of HR, manages the performance of employees though recruitment, training, coaching and development to maximize effectiveness and minimize turnover.
  • Partners with necessary support functions to ensure that customer service expectations are met.
  • Attracts and retains store leadership talent though clear communication, soliciting and supporting ideas, and involving others in making decisions with confidence.
  • Communicates with peers, HR, and management on successes, opportunities and areas for improvement.
  • Establishes and monitors sales productivity through appropriate KPIs and other best practices that help identify strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats (SWOT).
  • Audits daily scorecards for productivity, and employee understanding of applicable metrics.
  • With the assistance of HR, audits the successful completion of priority associate training relating to pet care, sales, customer service and presentation, etc.
  • Identifies, mentors and develops future GM’s, and helps GMs to do the same for their staff members.

EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, AND/OR TRAINING:
  • Bachelor's Degree (BA) from four-year college or university, OR five to ten years of related experience and/or training required.
  • Retail management experience.

● Visual Acuity - Continually utilize visual acuity to operate equipment, read technical information, and/or use a keyboard
● Lifting/Pushing/Carrying – Not required to lift more than 50 lbs. on occasion with frequent lifting, pushing, or carrying of up to 10 lbs.
