The Cath Lab RN provides direct patient care to adult through geriatric patient population. Addresses the psychosocial, physical and general aspects of care related to the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory and Interventional Radiology Department. Communicates with the physicians on a regular basis and as needed about patient condition. Assists with the maintenance of equipment and inventory. Assesses procedure room for equipment functioning and readiness. Obtains supplies for individual cases and ensures all appropriate preprocedural documentation is accurate and reflects the procedure to be performed. Monitors, positions, and assists patient during procedure. Participates in performance improvement and continuous quality improvement activities.
Required Education:
Graduate of accredited school of nursing
Preferred Education:
Bachelor of Science in Nursing
Required Technical Skills:
Basic computer keyboard skills; Proficient in interpreting EKG and hemodynamic pressure tracings; Operate different equipment x-ray table, Intravascular Ultrasound (IVUS) Fractional Flow Wire (FFR); Intra-aortic Balloon counter pulsation device (IABP) ; Impella; pressure injector ; St. Jude temporary transvenous pacer; Angiojet; and any additional treatment modalities which the lab might use in the future
Required Experience:
One year experience as a RN in a hospital Critical Care unit
Preferred Experience:
One year or more experience in a Cardiac Cath Lab unit
Required Licensure /Registration /Certification:
Texas license as a Registered Nurse. Certified in Basic Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
Preferred Licensure /Registration /Certification:
Certified Critical Care Nurse (CCRN)
Cardio-Vascular Certified RN (CVRN)
