Essential Job Functions: The incumbent must be able to perform all of the following duties and responsibilities. - Multi-faceted design experience in high profile sportswear apparel brands. - Responsible for setting the trend direction for the brand and categories and can manage team from idea to implementation. Lead the aesthetic creation of product and drive the creative direction from initial concepts, sketches, innovative design solutions, incorporating color, fabric, technology, print and pattern. - Research industry trends and product periodicals, partners with fabric and product development team to develop innovative new fabrics and materials. - Able to push creativity with a commercial mentality, understand cost targets and should be aware of financial impact on those decisions. - Plan and communicate design vision, prioritizes workload and creates focus to effectively manage the team and meet deadlines. - Lead team through design-owned brand milestones: Material development, Concept and Kick off, Sample Reviews and Buy Finals. - Be a visionary leader with strong ability to translate human trends into the pet industry. Must contribute strong point of view, raw material concepts and strategic product stories that are innovative and solutions focused. - Pitch bold ideas through compelling story-telling manner which both explains product and platform benefits. - Persuade others and facilitate the implementation of an idea from strategy to final product. - Maintain expert knowledge of the industry and relevant trends through intuition, market and business to generate effective and innovative design solutions. - Lead and represent the design department for strategic projects as assigned. - Expert knowledge in apparel/accessories designs, garment construction, trims, techniques. Skilled in Adobe illustrator, photoshop and PLM. - Experience in creation of high-quality design packs during design process with use of illustration, assistant design and other resources to support the design effort. - Strong collaborator and partner with cross-functional partners to ensure design vision is met and executed from concept through to proto review, adhering to developing timeline. - Inspire, coach and develop team of designers to focus on creating innovative, consumer-lead product. - Grow and develop a best-in-class design team, fostering an inclusive work environment and leveraging the strengths of the team to achieve goals. Supervisory Responsibilities: This position manages the Design team’s workload and deliverables. The Design team is comprised of Sr Designer, Designer, Design Assistant and Design Coordinator Work Environment: Typical office environment; cubicle/office setting. Education (Required): Bachelor’s degree in apparel design or related discipline, or relevant work experience required. Work Experience (Required): 8 years’ work experience in apparel design required. - 5 years’ minimum leadership experience. - Advanced understanding of apparel design and construction required. - Great taste level, aesthetic and strong understanding and interpretation of human trends into pet industry. - Strong knowledge of formulating color palettes. - Able to work in fast paced environment, strong organization skills to troubleshoot and mange multiple projects. - Demonstrate openness to new ideas and differing opinions - Exceptional computer skills essential, including expert knowledge of Adobe Illustrator, well-developed skills with Microsoft Office. Experience with PLM system helpful. - Ability to work in a team environment is essential. - Excellent written and oral communication skills with the proven ability to communicate with all levels including management, internal and external partners. - Outstanding organizational skills with demonstrated ability to prioritize workload and attention to detail.
