JOB DESCRIPTION

Position: Personal Banker
Department: Deposits
Reports to: Teller Operations Manager & New Accounts Manager
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Summary:

Receives and pays out money, and keeps records of money and negotiable instruments involved in financial transactions. Opens accounts, explains and processes accounts and other financial services, and corrects records.

Education and/or Experience-

High School Education or GED; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills-

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Mathematical Skills-

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability –

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills –

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Bank Core Processing Software, Database software; Internet software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.

Other Qualifications

In depth knowledge of bank deposit products, policies and procedures

Basic knowledge of bank loan and financial services products

Knowledge of various federal regulations including Bank Secrecy Act, Information Security (Privacy/GLBA), FACTA Identity Theft, Bank Protection Act, Prohibition on Funding Unlawful Internet Gambling, Wire and Transfer Policy and teller roles and responsibilities relating to each act. Each individual will also have knowledge of the Wire and Transfer policy, Pandemic Preparedness, Safe Deposit Box, Teller Balancing, Deposit Operations Policies and the Employee Handbook.

Training Requirements:

This position requires the successful completion of in-house or other approved training program to understand the operating principals and policies of Peru Federal Savings Bank as required in the Continuing Education Policy

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Receives checks and cash for deposit, verifies amount, and examines checks for endorsements.

Cashes checks and pays out money after verification of signatures and customer balances.

Enters customers' transactions into computer to record transactions, and issues computer generated receipts.

Places holds on accounts for uncollected funds.

Orders daily supply of cash, and counts incoming cash.

Balances currency, coin, and checks in cash drawer at end of shift and compares totaled amounts with data displayed on computer screen.

Explains, promotes, or sells products or services such as traveler’s checks, savings bonds, money orders, and cashier's checks.

Removes deposits from, and counts and balances cash in, automated teller machines and night depository.

Interviews customers to obtain information and explain available financial services such as savings and checking accounts, Individual Retirement Account, Certificates of Deposit, savings bonds, and securities.

Rents and admits customers to safe deposit boxes.

Types account information obtained from customer on record card or form, and enters into computer.

Answers customer questions and investigates and corrects errors, following customer and establishment records.

Answer basic customer inquiries regarding interest rates, service charges and account histories while complying with disclosure requirements, regulations and consumer privacy policies

Presents funds received from customer to Teller for deposit, and obtains receipt for customer. Perform teller duties or assist in other areas of the financial institution during peak hours or as needed.

Executes wire transfers of funds.

Any and all other duties as requested by the Teller Supervisor or Executive Management as needs arise.

The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet. Exempt employees are expected to the hours necessary to accomplish the goals and responsibilities of their position. Non-Exempt Employees are required to work a minimum of 36 a week for full time status. This may require occasional evening and weekend hours for community events, Saturday morning work schedule in addition to daily duties. Some travel may be necessary to attend conferences, schools and seminars deemed necessary by the bank. Some travel may be overnight and extended.
