Responsibilities:

• Follows anterior nasal or buccal specimen collection procedures
• Properly identifies patient and labels specimen appropriately
• Enter req forms demographic and insurance information in laboratory information system (LIS)
• Properly accessing samples
• Transport samples to the reference laboratory after collection
• Should be able to drive to multiple locations for sample collection

Education:

• High School Diploma or GED

Languages:

• English
• Spanish

Certifications:

• None required

Complexity of Work:

• Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision
• Must be able to excel in a high-volume, fast-paced work environment and take appropriate action

Work Experience:

• Several months in a clinical laboratory is strongly preferred

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to safely handle potentially infectious patient specimens, carcinogenic substances, odorous and other hazardous materials to which they may be exposed
• Flexible working hours
• Requires frequent sitting or standing.
• Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds
• May be needed placed in an environment with exposure to outdoor temperatures

Personal Protective Equipment:

• Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required
• Disposable gown, gloves, mask and face shield maybe required
