Person Directed Supports, Inc. is Hiring a Maintenance Technician for Human Service Agency Near Allentown, PA

Human Service Agency who supports Individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities in community living homes in the Lehigh Valley area is looking for a maintenance technician.

BASIC PURPOSE: Performs various maintenance, both proactively and reactively duties necessary to maintain and enhance the living and day environment of everyone being supported. Handles repairs and improvements of all Person Directed Support, Inc., locations for inspections ready/home like environment. Works as a team participant along with the maintenance staff to ensure the community meets the quality maintenance standards set by the person, regulations, and Person Directed Supports, Inc. management.

KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE: High School Diploma or equivalent if preferred. Trade school and/or military training a plus. Three to five years of verifiable hands-on maintenance experience (i.e., plumbing, electrical, carpeting, and painting, etc.) is preferred with proficiency in at least one major area.

LICENSES/CERTICATION: Valid PA driver’s license with good driving record and auto insurance is required. EPA certifiable status is preferred.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Creates/promotes a culture centered on building self-directed lives with the people we support.
  • Proactively prepares and assists in ensuring all locations are homelike, safe, and regulatory capable.
  • Proactively and reactively performs all maintenance functions. Records activity in maintenance logs.
  • Responds to all service requests and concerns in a timely manner.
  • Performs on-call emergency service as required.
  • Assists/coordinated maintenance inventory and/or supplies
  • Moves heavy objects as requested.
  • Assist in keeping the grounds and common area free of trash and debris.
  • Works closely with management and other maintenance staff in developing an integral team that effectively represents the quality and professionalism of Person Directed Supports, Inc.
  • Maintains open communication with property management/Leaser where applicable.
  • Consistently maintains a professional, courteous attitude when dealing with people being supported, co-workers, and the general public, at all time, on or off the property.
  • Responsible for the completion of all maintenance service requests as assigned.
  • Work within expense limits established.
  • Maintain inventory controls for effective operations.
  • Schedule and complete the “Preventative Maintenance Program” for home, property, and vehicles.
  • Coordinate special projects as directed by the VP of Support Services.
  • Assist in monitoring all work being performed by outside contractors.
  • Proactively repairs/replace items as needed.
  • Responsible for 24-hour emergency maintenance service.
  • Monitor and maintain all building systems as assigned.
  • Complete ground work as directed by the VP of Support Services or as may be known as needs to be done which may include picking up trash, sweeping curbs and dumpster areas and maintaining landscaping beds and other areas.
  • Responsible for alerting the VP of Support Services of any unusual occurrence and/or damage that have taken place or that may occur.
  • Complete payroll timesheets and mileage reimbursements and submit to supervisor as determined.
  • Maintain a professional courteous manner.
  • Assure safety standards are used which comply with all agency, local, City, County, State and Federal guidelines and regulations.
  • Ensure compliance of all work related activities in a fair, ethical, and consistent manner.
  • Follow established agency policies and those outlined in the Employee Handbook.
  • The job requires exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly.
  • Special projects and other responsibilities as may be determined
  • Attends and participated in training seminars as requested.
  • Assists other staff member as needed.
  • Delivers various communications to the people being supported.
  • Attends and assists in setting up for functions and activities.
  • Drives motorized vehicles on or off property for Person Directed Supports, Inc.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by Person Directed Supports, Inc.
