Instructional Assistant - Alternative ProgramPosition PurposeTo provide assistance and support for administrative as well as direct care tasks to ensure the needs of the students, visitors and parents are met. Position will serve as receptionist for early arrivals as well as functioning as the Receptionist for the day if the Administrative Assistant is unavailable. This position will provide support in the classroom if receptionist is not needed for the day.
Essential Job FunctionsSupervise the arrival of all students.
Open door for parents/guests.
Maintain SOAR and CIOP list on Google sheets.
Answer phones - direct calls and answer questions.
Sort and deliver - send/receive interoffice mail (9:00 am).
Take Attendance for SOAR, CIOP and MAP Programs (Independently).
Create File for new students (First day students only).
Follow up if no one has called in absences (home schools and with parents).
Assist with breakfast supervision of cafeteria.
Assist with lunch supervision of cafeteria.
Send email for students returning to their home schools.
Deliver copies to classrooms.
Maintain the calendar for JW Riley and the Director of K-12 Alternative Program.
Primary assignment will be in MAP classroom (two sessions).
Work one-on-one with students (academic focus).
Support teachers with class activities.
As needed - support SOAR Classroom when student requires one-on-one support.
Supervise breakfast, lunch and recess.
Supervise individual students who take sensory breaks.
Help coordinate afternoon dismissal ensuring students board the appropriate bus.
EquipmentUse standard office equipment such as personal computers, printer, copier and fax machines, calculator, and telephone.
Travel RequirementsTravel to school district buildings and professional meetings as required.
Pay Rates $14.00 per hour
Work Schedule 8 hours per day.
183 days per year.
Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesAbility to work in fast-paced environment with multiple distractions while ensuring the accuracy of accounting for financial transactions.
Ability to work a flexible schedule that includes attending special events to accommodate occasional weekend and evening work within a 40-hour workweek
Ability to prepare and maintain accurate records.
Ability to maintain confidential information.
Ability to work well with others and to prioritize workload.
Ability to multi-task and work with detailed information and data.
Ability to meet deadlines and schedules.
Proven knowledge of financial reporting and daily data entry.
Knowledge in record keeping.
Computer skills with Excel, Word, Mail-merge, Google Sheets, Google Docs, Publisher and PowerPoint.
Possess good organizational skills and the ability to multi-task.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with school administrators and staff.
