Perkins Counseling & Psychological Services is Hiring a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Near Wake Forest, NC

POSITION SUMMARY: Full-time with benefits, 30 billable hrs per week. The psychiatric outpatient provider is a nurse practitioner or physician assistant who provides direct psychiatric care to outpatient clients at the practice. Meets regularly with patients of all ages for medication management. This practitioner should be comfortable seeing pediatric clients. The medication management provider serves as a member of the clinical team, supporting the company's mission and high standards of client care.

Major Accountabilities

  • Provide evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of a variety of psychiatric medical conditions.
  • Provide direct psychiatric services to patients, including prescribing medications
  • Collaborates with psychotherapists around treatment as needed
  • Communicates effectively and regularly with referral sources and outside agencies to provide exceptional continuity of care
  • Prepares for and attends all assigned meetings and trainings
  • Ensures that all required clinical documentation is completed within required timeframe and meets all quality-of-care expectations and regulatory standards
  • Ensures compliance with ethical practice, organization policiesand procedures, regulatory agencies and any assigned performance improvement activities
  • Establishes inter-referral relationships with community sources
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Specific Skills:

  • Knowledge of short term/stabilization mental health treatment
  • Knowledge of acute adult, adolescent and child psychological disorders and relevant pharmacological treatment of those disorders
  • Strong clinical assessment skills; strong ability to develop appropriate treatment plans for short-term psychiatric stabilization
  • Ability to maintain professional and collaborative relationships with patients, patients’ family members, staff and community personnel
  • Ability to process ideas and implement changes quickly and independently
  • Ability to develop therapeutic relationships quickly and effectively with patients and families and engage them in the therapeutic process
  • Ability to provide virtual/telehealth mental health care, as needed
  • Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and high ethical standards
  • Ability to set appropriate clinical boundaries and expectations with clients
  • Ability to maintain appropriate medical record documentation for all therapeutic services
  • Working knowledge of empirically supported treatments
  • Maintains professional licensure, required collaborative relationship, and completes continuing education or training requirements as mandated by credentialing agencies

  • Evaluates own performance and sees opportunities for growth
  • Strong interpersonal and professional boundaries
  • Reports to work on time and as scheduled and wears identification while on duty
  • Represents the organization in a positive and professional manner
  • Adheres to company policies and procedures

Qualifications:

  • Nurse Practitioner, with certification through appropriate accrediting organization required
  • Active and valid DEA license, required.
  • North Carolina State Licensure to practice independently in field with prescriptive authority
  • Master’s degree
  • Outside supervision with a credentialed supervisor (MD/DO) required.

Experience:

  • Two (2) or more years of previous independent practice, with an emphasis in psychiatric work preferred.

Other Certification:

  • Current active BLS/First Aid certification
  • Current North Carolina Driver’s License
