PERI is currently looking for a Senior Engineer – Research and Development to join the PERI family! The main purpose of PERI’s Senior Engineer – Research and Development position, is to design new products for the North America market. The Senior Engineer – Research and Development is accountable for the creation of concepts and design solutions from initiation to production.

What you'll do on a typical day:

  • Design and create detailed engineering specifications ensuring proper tolerancing and design for manufacturability
  • Review relevant competitive products to provide benchmarking and analysis of technical specifications
  • Identify and resolve problems in a timely manner, gather and analyzes information skillfully
  • Coordinate with manufacturing at suitable stages such as at initial design to evaluate the design’s ability to optimize for manufacturing in an efficient and economical manner
  • Ensure compliance to the requirements of OSHA standards, referencing ACI, ASME, ANSI and SSFI Standards
  • Develop technical solutions to engineering problems using analytical methods such as DOE, correlation studies, and apply statistical analysis for product improvements and apply FMEA process to implement sound engineering solutions
  • Develop product literature by recording, interpreting, and explaining technical data and product performance

What you'll need to be successful in the role:

  • Strong aptitude for hands-on engineering problem solving skills
  • Expert user of 2D and 3D CAD tools, including basic analysis tools (FEA, Stress, Bending, etc.)
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with internal and external customers and provide training and coaching to Engineering and Sales team members
  • Open to other’s ideas and exhibits a willingness to try new things
  • Self-motivated with a strong competitive drive, a resilient nature and a goal and results oriented mindset
  • Ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment
  • Ability to effectively collaborate with peers to reach a common goal Adapt to changes in the work environment, manage competing demands, and can deal with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events
  • Excellent attention to detail, strong organizational and multitasking skills with the ability to problem-solve
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and manage time, tasks, and resources while working in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrates proficiency in 3D CAD modeling part and assembly models
  • Experienced in the phases and requirements of the NPD process

Additional Requirements: 

  • Post-secondary education degree in Mechanical, Production Engineering or other related Engineering discipline
  • Construction and/or formwork industry experience is an asset
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office application and computer skills with the ability to quickly learn and adapt to utilizing new technology/software
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication in the English language
