Salary: $40-$50

The Architect/Designer/Strategic Space Planner will provide strategic support for design renovation of existing office spaces within United States Legislature buildings. This person will play a critical role in continuous design development, design improvements and move coordination. This position will focus on meeting mission requirements, working with organizational leaders and being a key partner to understand space requirements, anticipate constraints and develop projections. 

Immediate Need - Join our high energy team of top performers on a long-term high profile historic renovation project.

Responsibilities may include some or all of the following duties:

  • Meet with office residents to develop initial design concepts that align with client requirements and requests.
  • Develop, document and review design requirements and requests with clients to facilitate space programming and develop space plans.
  • Create detailed drawings of floor plans, furniture layout, color schemes, lighting design, artwork layout, and material selection.
  • Provide detailed move logistics plans and schedules. Coordinate with building facilities teams to move office residents seamlessly.
  • Coordinate with architects, contractors, and suppliers.
  • Develop design concepts, design criteria, and preparing related reports.
  • Ensures compliance with applicable codes, standards, and client requirements. Writes construction specifications and prepares detailed requisitions for equipment and materials, as needed.
  • Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in architecture, Construction/Project Management (or related) is required with 5 years of relevant experience; equivalent additional related experience can be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Licensed Architect with AIA registration or CCM certification is preferred, but not necessary.
  • Knowledge and experience with review and application of life safety and ADA code compliance.
  • Proficiency in the application of architectural design standards, practices, and techniques, as well as a demonstrated proficiency in sketching, rendering, modelbuilding, and presentation drawing.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Project, Revit, Microstation, AutoCad, or other software packages typically associated with architectural design is also required.
  • Acumen for reviewing designs and construction plans to meet codes, budgets, and schedules.

*** Must have US person status with an ability to obtain/maintain federal government site and systems accesses.

*** Relocation assistance and per diem are not available for this position. Local candidates are strongly preferred.
