Ready to make an impact? We are seeking a Systems Administrator at Vandenberg Air Force Base (AFB), CA to support Missile Defense Agency (MDA) operations, maintenance and sustainment activities associated with the Eastern/Western Range Operational Communications Services (EWOCS) Contract.

The Systems Administrator position maintains smooth operation of multi-user computer systems, including coordination with network engineers. Monitors and manages system resources, including CPU usage, disk usage, and response times to maintain operating efficiency.

The Systems Administrator will be responsible for the following. Other duties may be assigned:

• Perform systems administration tasks including, but not limited to, setting up user accounts, installing software, tuning system performance, performing backup and recovery, and maintaining system documentation
• Perform systems security administration functions, including creating user profiles and accounts
• Monitor and manage system resources, including CPU usage, disk usage, and memory allocation to maintain operating efficiency
• Implement and test modifications to computer systems in response to MDA Work Orders
• Work with Information Assurance Analysts to identify and implement security best practices in all engineering solutions, including implementation of IAVMs and CTOs
• Evaluate and provide recommendations on new hardware/software to enhance operational capabilities
• Performs other duties and assignments as required
• Other duties may include setting up administrator accounts, maintaining system documentation, tuning system performance, installing system wide software and allocating mass storage space
• Interacts with users and evaluates vendor products
• Makes recommendations to purchase hardware and software, coordinates installation and provides backup recovery
• Develops and monitors policies and standards for allocation related to the use of computing resources
• May be assigned responsibility for less experienced staff

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree to include at least five (5) years of systems administration in a mixed system environment or Master's degree with at least three (3) years of experience 
• Hands-on experience with client-server systems running Windows and Linux operating systems
• Active DoD 8570.01-M Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level II certification (Security , SSCP, GSEC, CCNA Security, GICSP)
• Active Computing Environment certification (Juniper, RedHat, Windows, vSphere) or ability to attain within 6-months.
• Active Secret security clearance

Desired Qualifications:

• Experience with Missile Defense Agency (MDA) communications systems at VAFB
• Experience with virtualization technologies, database administration, and automation scripting (Powershell, Ansible, Bash, etc.)
• Ability to work with technically and geographically diverse engineering teams and interacting with external customers
• Strong verbal and written communications skills, including proficiency with MS Office Suite

Salary Range

Salary Minimum: $57,500 Salary Mid: $115,000 Salary Maximum: $143,800 The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position, and is just one component of Peraton's total compensation package for employees.
