Responsibilities

Maintains smooth operation of multi-user computer systems, including coordination with network engineers. Monitors and manages system resources, including CPU usage, disk usage, and response times to maintain operating efficiency. Performs systems security administration functions, including creating user profiles and accounts. Other duties may include setting up administrator accounts, maintaining system documentation, tuning system performance, installing system wide software and allocating mass storage space. Interacts with users and evaluates vendor products. Makes recommendations to purchase hardware and software, coordinates installation and provides backup recovery. Develops and monitors policies and standards for allocation related to the use of computing resources. May be assigned responsibility for less experienced staff.

Peraton is looking for a Windows/VM Server System Admin to join our Transportation Security Administration (TSA) program. This role will support a critical national defense mission across a variety of US sites and data centers. This role will be responsible for the day-to-day administration of a suite of compute platforms including VM, Dedicated machines and commercial cloud areas. The role will also be involved in server provisioning and deprovisioning in a secure Government environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide support in the installation, operation, maintenance and security of Microsoft Windows servers, Linux based servers, and applications.
• Support IaaS Linux systems (Remote Servers, Networking, Storage, and Computer) hosted in cloud hosted platforms (AWS, Azure, and Google).
• Resolve system issues and problems with infrastructure that includes updating, patching, and system maintenance updates.
• Evaluate and recommend hardware/software enhancements as needed including management of system updates and patches
• Troubleshoot configuration and integration issues in production, test, and development environments.
• Monitor and optimize system performance.
• Create / develop a variety of scripts to streamline Operations & Maintenance (O&M) processes.
• Configure security on supported platforms, research security issues / warning notifications for applicability and implementation of patches and fixes.
• Ensure backup procedures are in place and executed on a timely basis.
• Independently work with internal and external stakeholders, including the end user community, for diagnosing system issues.
• Troubleshoot configuration and integration issues in development, test, and production environments.
• Provide guidance and technical resolution to end users and system owners
• Perform scheduled and allocated work, providing guidance on modernization initiatives, and resolving problems to meet technical performance and financial objectives.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

• US Citizen
• Ability to get DOI EOD (clearance)
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Systems Engineering or related field and 8 ( ) years of relevant experience. However, equivalent experience in lieu of degree will be considered.
• Minimum 2 years of experience providing system administration and production support for some of the following areas:
  • Familiar with IBM Blade Center, HP, VM Virtual Machine
  • Minimum 2 years of experience working with Server 2008, Linux, VM ESX systems.
  • Experience with Virtualization administration (OpenStack, Citrix XenServer, Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization, and/or VMWare).

 Desired Qualifications:

• Experience supporting the DOI, or other Federal contracts
• Video Teleconferencing experience
• VDI (virtual Desktop) experience
• ITIL v4 Certification

Salary Range

Salary Minimum: $57,500 Salary Mid: $115,000 Salary Maximum: $143,800 The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position, and is just one component of Peraton's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, short- and long-term incentives, and program-specific awards. In addition, Peraton provides a variety of benefits to employees.
