Summary: The Operations Technician (Op Tech) is responsible for monitoring the status of all plant systems, controlling routine plant operations, responding to alarms and abnormal conditions by taking appropriate corrective actions, and performs basic routine maintenance duties. The Op Tech executes plant shutdown and start-up procedures as required and assures that the plant meets its generating requirements while operating in a safe and efficient manner. The Op Tech carries out these tasks in accordance with Plant Operating and Maintenance procedures and associated vendor and manufacturer technical procedures.
Job Responsibilities:

• This position requires working in 12-hour rotating shifts with weekend and holiday work as required by schedules, workload, and plant conditions.
• This position operates from established procedures, performing duties independently under general direction and minimum supervision. Decisions are made within prescribed operating procedures and guidelines. The position encounters recurring work situations of high complexity, with occasional off-normal operations (e.g., equipment trips, breakdowns, etc.).
• The Ops Tech has the authority to control the operation of the plant, and must do so in a safe and efficient manner while remaining in compliance with all local, state and federal regulations and permits and all safety regulations at all times. This position must effectively communicate information to supervisory and fellow plant personnel relative to the condition of the plant equipment and performance and provide suggestions for plant improvement. Op Tech must ensure that duties are performed in such a way as to create an optimum cost-benefit ratio.
• Perform Control Room Operator position duties; responding to abnormal and emergency conditions in the most effective manner, complying with all safety and environmental requirements preventative/predictive maintenance records; Maintain complete equipment files, logs, drawings, and schematics for all designated equipment; Operate plant and rental vehicles such as Aerial Lifts and Forklift Trucks.

• High school graduate or equivalent, and trade school, related military service training programs, or technical training school programs.
• Strong mechanical ability and aptitude
• Must possess basic math skills, good verbal communications skills, and be proficient with the use of power and precision tools
• Must be cooperative with those he/she contacts in this work and have the ability to work without direct supervision.
• Must know the hazards involved and the safety precautions to be practiced in the operation and maintenance of power plant equipment and machinery
• Work within and insure strict adherence to all safety practices and procedures.
• Must be able to respond to audio alarms and variations of sound
• Must have a valid driver’s license.
