Purpose: To keep the filler, carbo-cooler and other production equipment cleaned and sanitized properly according to strict production and quality standards set forth by the Parent company and the Food and Drug Administration.

Principal Accountabilities:

Must follow all food safety regulations as set forth by the Food and Drug Administration and Parent Company Standards. Each employee must understand and abide by Good Manufacturing Practices for cleanliness and sanitation and understand and follow all HAACP guidelines as outlined for their position through individual job specific training. Must also comply with all OSHA training as required by the company.

2. The sanitization employee must report for work in clean clothing that is in good repair. Nothing should be carried above the waist, no garments with buttons, rips, tears or fraying material. All sanitization employees must wear hairnets, and beard nets while in all processing areas or above any open container even on non-production days. All employees must wear the company issued Photo ID badge while on company property.

3. All employees must wash their hands before starting work, after each absence from work and/or anytime when hands become dirty (after every restroom visit and after lunch). No jewelry is allowed except a plain smooth wedding band. Medical necklaces must be inside the shirt. No false fingernails, eyelashes or fingernail polish in production area. No food, drink, or chewing gum is allowed in production areas. Only 20oz bottles of water with a label and lid on it are permitted outside the breakroom, no open containers. No use of tobacco products anywhere inside the facility. No perfume or aftershave is permitted in the production areas. All personal items must be placed in the designated areas (breakroom/locker room).

There are strict standard operating procedures in the food industry for cleanliness especially in the production area. All equipment and facilities must be maintained according to a Master Sanitation Schedule to meet Parent company quality and health department standards.

a. Fillers should be thoroughly sanitized once per week, or as needed.

b. Filler room should be cleaned with foaming equipment, including carbocooler, seamer, walls, conveyors.

Packaging conveyors, floors, drains should cleaned daily.

Any debris or waste is emptied daily, cardboard and plastic baled, garbage cans washed.

5. Most cleaning is done with a chemical solution that must be measured according to standards and metered through the syrup lines and carbo-cooler. The sanitizer must understand measurements and be able to operate the meter to mix the proper amount of water with the cleaning solution for this process.

6. The sanitizing process is done after production has been completed for the day, so it is typically a second or third shift operation depending on production demands. In this operation it is a 10 hr shift and the incumbent must be able to walk on concrete and be able to lift and carry a five gallon container of solution weighing approximately 40 lbs. The floor will be wet in most of the production area, so rubber boots must be worn over shoes and any other PPE equipment as required.

7. This person will also be cross-trained to back up some other key positions in the production and quality area. There may be additional duties required from time to time, depending upon production demands and changes in processes.

8. All plant safety rules and regulations must be followed at all times, including wearing personal protection equipment, hairnets/beard nets, practicing proper lifting techniques, abiding by specific OSHA regulations for the area they are assigned to and have been trained in, and absolutely no horseplay is allowed.
