Surgery Scheduler

Peoria Ear, Nose & Throat Group, a fast-paced multi-specialty private medical practice has an outstanding opportunity for a qualified individual to perform the role of a surgery scheduler.

This role includes daily interaction with medical personnel (physicians, physician assistants, medical assistants, business office, hospital staff personnel, etc.).

Primary Responsibilities:

• Contacting patients to schedule surgeries/procedures, pre-op, and post-op appointments
• Coordinate with various hospitals and surgery centers to ensure proper time allocation, surgical equipment availability, and pre-testing
• Obtain prior authorization required for all surgeries, outpatient testing, and referrals
• Generate surgery/procedure cost estimates, discuss with patients, and follow-up on payments
• Respond promptly to patients’ inquiries, requests, or questions via phone
• Ensure all proper documentation is prepared and ready for surgery
• Collaborate professionally with internal and external healthcare providers and staff to create a smooth patient flow and ensure follow-up communication is optimal
• Perform other related duties as assigned

This position will be responsible for managing all aspects of the surgery schedule for 1 or more surgeons. The position also requires the individual to provide adequate coverage during their peers’ absence.

Candidates should possess prior surgical scheduling experience, exhibit friendly and professional communication skills, show flexibility in times of change, and have the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.

Minimum Requirements

· High School Diploma or GED

· Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and internet use

· Typing speed of 50 WPM or greater

· Foundational knowledge of medical terminology related to anatomy and medical testing

· Prior experience in healthcare, prior authorization, and precertification

Highly Desired Requirements

· College Degree

· Prior experience in healthcare, prior authorization, and precertification, specifically in the specialty fields of Otolaryngology, Audiology, and Allergy and Immunology

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $19.00 - $22.00 per hour

Expected hours: 36 – 40 per week
