People's Community Clinic is Hiring an Accounting Specialist Near Austin, TX

Overview

Supports the mission of People's Community Clinic by helping to assure the integrity of PCC’s financial systems through compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and internal financial controls. This position ensures that PCC maintains efficient cash posting processes with prompt resolution of discrepancies for Revenues. This position also prepares Development department deposit postings, miscellaneous deposit postings and all grantor deposit postings. All PCC employees are expected to identify opportunities to improve work flow, work processes and patient care and to work cooperatively to implement those improvements.

The starting range for this position is $21 - $26 hourly. 

Responsibilities

Develop, implement and maintain cash and revenue accounting processes that meet the following criteria:

  • Timely and accurate deposit of all cash, checks and credit card transactions.
  • Timely and accurate recording of deposits in the general ledger.
  • Documentation of deposits maintained in compliance with the policies and practices of the clinic.

Cash and Revenue Accounting Processes:

  • Deposit checks received by mail twice per week.
  • Audit cashiers’ and billing company’s paperwork to ensure that patient fee deposits tie to Next Gen batch postings.
  • Update daily patient fees check log, deposit reports, and EOB’s; coordinate and distribute to appropriate staff.
  • Update daily development and miscellaneous check logs and related items; coordinate and distribute to appropriate staff.
  • Prepare entries for all deposits into MIP daily including but not limited to: checks, cash, credit cards, direct deposits
  • Prepare MIP entries for accounts receivable as required.

 Special Projects:

  • Collaborate with the Controller on special projects as assigned.
  • Provide back-up for responsibilities as assigned.
  • Assist in preparation and maintenance of accounting process and procedures manual.
  • Identify and implement process improvements for the finance team.

General Accounting Responsibilities:

  • Maintain General Ledger according to generally accepted accounting principles:

o Cash Receipts

  • Assist with annual audit and grantor audits
  • Prepare cash reconciliations as assigned.
  • Provide support on A/R reconciliation monthly.
  • Records retention coordination and maintenance for finance

Qualifications

Education: Bachelors or Associate degree from an accredited college/university with a major in Accounting preferred or equivalent job experience.

Experience:

  • Non-profit experience strongly preferred.
  • One year MIP accounting software experience preferred.
  • Minimum of four years’ experience as an accounting clerk or in bookkeeping functions.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Proficient in Microsoft applications (Excel, Word, and Outlook);
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Ability to effectively juggle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment;
  • Strong attention to detail;
  • Ability to interact with people of diverse backgrounds;
  • Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines; strong organizational skills.
