Position title: Nurse Sonographer

Position type: Staff (part time, 1 or 2 days weekly; 5 hours daily - flexible schedule)

Department: HOPE Center Pregnancy Reports to: HOPE Center Director

Position Summary

The Nurse Sonographer's main responsibility is to promote the optimum health of both mother and baby with pivotal prenatal care from a life-affirming perspective. Compassionately serving clients with ultrasounds. This position calls for assessing the clients' physical, emotional and spiritual needs to provide information needed for decision making, support, education and connection with resources.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Promote Physical Health
  • Perform limited obstetric ultrasound
  • Provide assistance in obtaining ongoing prenatal care
  • Provide education and support for clients relating to:
  • Pregnancy options
  • Prenatal health
  • General Women’s Health related to GYN

Foster Emotional and Spiritual Health

  • Establish a warm, supportive, and client-empowering environment
  • Demonstrate hope and healing through Christ
  • Advocate on behalf of clients as appropriate
  • Practice trauma-informed care
  • Observe for support for any presenting of abuse, trafficking, and need for abortion recovery/grief/loss support
  • Assess clients' needs for professional counseling

Major Duties and Responsibilities

Client management (ultrasound)

  • Explains standard ultrasound procedures and addresses client concerns to foster a sense of comfort and confidence
  • Performs diagnostic sonography procedures and obtains diagnostic images in accordance with CPC Statement of Faith medical protocols
  • Provides a preliminary digital summary of the technical findings to the reading physician and includes an oral report if necessary
  • Keeps accurate patient files
  • Coordinates with other staff members regarding follow-up care
  • Receives signed reports from the Center's Receiving Physician through software, files in client chart, and contacts client with any pertinent updates
  • Provides quality care for client, communicating effectively and compassionately
  • Builds supportive relationships with client during medical appointments
  • Faxes medical paperwork when requested by a client medical provider
  • Explains abortion risks, procedures, and potential complications to abortion-minded client
  • Explains misscarriage precautions, and any potential compilations
  • Provides general referrals to clients based on needs (medical, food, housing, etc..)

Administrative

  • Operates and maintains ultrasound scanning equipment
  • Records client visits in Ekyros
  • Keeps medical files and forms up to date and maintains a supply of current printed forms
  • Participates in all required staff meetings
  • Takes part in professional development as desired, recommended, or required
  • Performs other duties as assigned by Director

Qualifications for the Position

Education

  • BSN or Associate Degree in Applied Science
  • ARDMS board certification in OB/GYN
  • Preferred Prior work experience: At least two years of work experience as a Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer

Language proficiency

  • English required
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred

Compensation: $30.00 minimum hourly rate; based on previous experience and education

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $30.00 - $40.00 per hour

Expected hours: No more than 10 per week
