The Early Childhood Services Volunteer will play a crucial role in enhancing the quality of early childhood services provided by the People’s Community Clinic. This position aims to assist the Early Childhood Program Coordinator in various aspects, ultimately contributing to the well-being and development of young children in our community.
The objective of the Early Childhood Services Volunteer role is to engage with children, support program activities, and contribute to the overall effectiveness of the Early Childhood Program at People's Community Clinic.
Under the supervision of People’s Community Clinic employee, this individual’s primary responsibilities include:
• Engage Children in Reading: Actively participate in our Reach Out and Read Program by reading to children, promoting literacy, and fostering a love for books.• Supply Maintenance: Assist in the maintenance and organization of Early Childhood Program supplies used during well-child checks, ensuring they are readily available for use.• Play to Learn Program Support: Provide support on program days for the Play to Learn Program, helping parents engage with their children in developmental activities.• Cross Training: Volunteers will undergo cross-training in all Early Childhood Program areas to offer comprehensive support to the team.
No prior experience required, but a passion for early childhood development and education is highly desirable.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:• A genuine interest in working with children and promoting their development.• Strong communication skills and the ability to engage children effectively.• Organizational skills to assist in maintaining program supplies.• Ability to work collaboratively in a team and follow directions.
Preferred Qualifications: • Experience working with children, such as volunteering or previous childcare experience.• Familiarity with early childhood education principles.• Creativity and the ability to develop engaging reading video content.• Bilingual skills, especially in languages commonly spoken in the community.
Commitment: This volunteer role is expected to serve up to 4 hours per week requiring a commitment of 10 to 12 months, excluding holidays and breaks.
