Cedarhurst Senior Living, a regional healthcare provider and true friend of older adults, seeks a service-minded, career-oriented individual to join our team as a full-time Memory Care Director at our Cedarhurst of Fort Wayne community.

As a Memory Care Director, you will be responsible for ensuring the provision of quality nursing care in accordance with Federal, State, and Local regulations while leading your care team in optimizing each resident’s well-being and overall experience within the Memory Care neighborhood.

As a Memory Care Director, working with the Executive Director, you will impact the lives of our residents by –

  • Responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Memory Care neighborhood, including marketing, sales, regulatory compliance, maintaining high customer satisfaction, meeting financial expectations, and ensuring a quality workforce
  • The Memory Care Director will collaborate with all department heads to ensure that all employees are meeting their job requirements to provide a clean, safe & engaged Memory Care neighborhood
  • Oversee the delivery of quality care and services to our residents in compliance with the regulations pertaining to care plans and resident assessments
  • Oversee and implement infection control, pharmaceutical, and physical/chemical restraining policies, and procedures, and assures that committee recommendations are carried out
  • Interviews, hires, trains, supervises, evaluates, and retains a high-performing resident care team
  • Function as a liaison between the residents, their families, staff, third-party providers, and the general public - responding to inquiries and providing information on nursing care and services
  • Assess potential residents for memory care level of care as well as those residents returning from leave for appropriate placement and level of care
  • Strive to maintain a safe working environment through the prevention of accidents, the preservation of equipment, and the achievement of safe working practices
  • Assist with the preparation of the annual budget and maintains the operating budgets
  • In the absence of the Executive Director the Memory Care Director will be responsible for the overall operations of the Memory Care neighborhood
  • Actively participate in the sales process
  • Oversees the day-to-day implementation of life enrichment activities, including parties for various occasions/holidays
  • Transport residents to and from activity programs and prepare the area and equipment as needed
  • Schedule and arrange resident medical transportation for appointments
  • Perform apartment inspections for new move-ins compile move-in packets and assist residents and family members during move-in
  • Oversees the overall programming, both within and outside the community, including evenings and weekends to ensure residents are engaged and participating in daily activities and activities are being led by life enrichment staff
  • Will work with dining service to make sure that snacks are readily available in the Memory Care neighborhood
  • Handle food in a safe and appropriate manner during mealtimes, activities, etc.
  • Assist Executive Director with monthly staff in-service meetings as requested
  • Coordinate with Dining Service Director to ensure residents receive a fine dining experience and work with DSD to ensure all staff are properly trained

To become an Memory Care Director, you will need –

  • Applicable State licensure, required
  • Three (3) years of nursing experience in a senior care community with proven leadership and organizational skills, RN or LPN license required
  • ServSafe Certification
  • Proven experience in staffing, leading, developing, and retaining a strong resident care team
  • Must possess a general knowledge of laws and restrictions regarding Assisted Living care, as well as a solid understanding of opportunities and limits of other levels of care within senior living
  • Great communication and interpersonal skills are required along with the heart and passion to work with older adults while providing the best care possible
  • Must have the ability to remain calm in stressful situations, be flexible, work well with many interruptions and have skill in multi-tasking
  • Must exhibit and promote a high level of customer service, hospitality, curiosity, and friendliness towards all residents, visitors, employees, and the overall community
