Tableau Analyst
Location: Reading, PA.
Shift: Hybrid - 3 days in office, 2 days WFH (8am - 5pm)
Position Summary:
A Penske Logistics Tableau Analyst manages multiple streams of data, develops visualizations, and implements strategic solutions. This work brings insights, which drive actions for the larger team. This role can support multiple accounts in the Freight Management space. Good communication, time management, and attention to detail are essential. This role frequently collaborates with other groups to find solutions and share best practices around visual reporting and metrics, and requires cross-functional engagement with both internal and external stakeholders.
A successful Tableau Analyst provides tactical support to enhance the strategic mission of the team, ensuring customer goals are met, in partnership with leaders and colleagues. They are enthusiastic about metrics, supply chain, and/or data. They are curious thinkers, creative problem solvers, and are eager to grow their career in a supportive and highly collaborative environment.
Major Responsibilities:
Gathers and evaluates customer requirements, and developing solutions that fit customer needs.
Manages data streams for enhanced reporting capabilities
Understands data structure and business context well enough to join and blend data where necessary
Maintains advanced reporting and visualizations through Tableau
Manipulates and prepares data, including using ETL tools (such as Alteryx, Tableau Prep, or Talend) to clean and load data into SQL databases or flat files
Builds new visualizations or leverages existing templates to create meaningful insights for the account stakeholders
Handles own time management, including some project timelines, while balancing recurring tasks and projects
Communicates clearly and provides regular updates to team members, stakeholders, etc. as it applies to project progress
Uses Lean tools and other skills to improve processes, isolate root cause of problems, and find solutions for customer requests
Thoroughly tests and vets all completed work before it reaches the end user, ensuring continuity of reporting across platforms
Resolves situations quickly, communicating status of problems, and working with the appropriate subject matter experts, as needed, to find solutions
Documents processes and creates standard operating procedures, providing training to various audiences on processes and changes
Other projects and tasks as assigned
Qualifications:
1-3 years comparable work experience – specific to Transportation Management Systems
Bachelor's Degree preferred: Business Administration, Logistics & Supply Chain Management preferred
Fundamental understanding or desire to learn transportation, supply chain and logistics concepts are required.
Tableau visualization experience required
Please be prepared to share a Tableau portfolio if you have one (Tableau Public or just images).
Strong written and oral communication skills required
Intermediate experience with Excel preferred
Proficiency with computers including Microsoft Word, Outlook and PowerPoint required.
System aptitude, problem solving, ability to work within multiple applications
Consistently demonstrates proven ability to learn and use necessary tools
Ability to follow processes and standard procedures required
Experience with Transportation Management systems preferred
Willingness to travel as necessary, work the required schedule, work at the specific location required, complete Penske employment application, submit to a background investigation (to include past employment, education, and criminal history) and drug screening are required
