Penske Truck Leasing and Logistics is Hiring a Manager - Field Operations Planning (Workforce Planning and Scheduling) Near Reading, PA

Position Summary:

The purpose of the Manager-Field Operations Planning role is to lead large-scale field initiatives to deliver more effective and efficient ways of working. In it, you will use data-driven insights, critical problem solving and impactful communication to translate business insights into action, influencing strategic business and workforce decisions.

In this role you will lead a team to identify and address gaps between Penske’s current and future workforce needs in alignment with business strategy. This role will support field operations in balancing the quantity, quality and location of the critical talent necessary to meet business needs.

This role reports to the Vice President-Field Operations and will partner with a project manager and analyst within the group. This role will work with cross-functional partners in Facilities, Maintenance, Rental, Sales, Human Resources to plan for the future needs of the Penske Truck Leasing field organization. This position can be based out of any location in the US or Canada, and may include travel up to 65%, including frequent trips to our Green Hills corporate offices.

Major Responsibilities:

Workforce Planning

  • Implement and administer analytical and staffing models to assess workforce needs and to match capacity with workload.
  • Partner with functional leaders to identify trends and opportunities in the development and assessment of operational forecasts, staffing strategies and business plans.
  • Develop and maintain a centralized scheduling model to ensure maximum location efficiency and productivity.
  • Develop and assess tools to assist the business in minimizing under/overstaffing.

Capacity Planning

  • Optimize current facility capacity through workforce planning and scheduling.
  • Implement and administer tools and analysis for forecasting and capacity planning.

Advanced Analytics and Technology

  • Create tools, analyses and dashboards that provide a clear picture of the organizational landscape, including people, space and capacity resources.
  • Synthesize data from various sources to facilitate data-driven solutions to workforce, facility and organizational planning.
  • Seek innovation, centralization and process improvement through technology and digital tools.
  • Establishes strong collaboration with analytical teams across the organization (Maintenance, Rental, Facilities, HR, etc).

Leadership

  • Lead a team to deliver exceptional results.
  • Lead the continuous development of a robust analytical, data driven and customer centric systems environment.
  • Ensure continuous skills development of analytical tools, skills, methods, and approaches

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business or Finance preferred. If no degree, equivalent work experience is required.
  • 5 years of operational management experience within the transportation industry sector, including experience in leading a team
  • Knowledge of workforce planning/management principles required
  • Must have strong business acumen
  • Analytical and forecasting skills required; experience in the use of digital analytical tools and dashboards
  • Advanced communication skills required
  • Ability to adapt to system and business requirement changes quickly
  • Must have strong collaboration and influencing skills
  • Ability to present data to clearly represent answers to questions or to identify opportunities
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to embrace flexible solutions
  • Partnership mindset with the ability to influence across all levels of the business
  • Intellectual curiosity and analytic experience to provide solutions for business challenge
  • Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job
  • Willingness to travel as necessary, work the required schedule, work at the specific location required, complete Penske employment application, submit to a background investigation (to include past employment, education, and criminal history) and drug screening are required.
