Penquis, a social services agency serving Penobscot, Piscataquis, and Knox counties for over 50 years, has the following Preschool Teacher opening at our Eastern Maine Community College location in Bangor, area.
Location: Bangor, Maine
40 hours/week; 52 weeks/year (benefits eligible including 14 paid holidays)
Penquis Child Development will pay for newly hired staff to obtain appropriate credentials or continued educational opportunities. This position is responsible for children (age 3-5 years old) in a preschool setting, following an evidence-based curriculum, implementing developmentally appropriate activities, including individual prescriptive programs for children with special needs. Penquis Child Development provides staff with at least 40 hours/year of paid training and provides financial support for positions which require specific education/credentials (such as ME DOE Teacher or Ed Tech Certification, Praxis exam fees, CDA application/renewal, required college coursework, etc). This position requires a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education or child development, including coursework with a focus on preschool development and appropriate practicum experience. (Appropriate practicum experience may be substituted for two years paid experience in an early education/childcare setting).

Upon hire and periodically thereafter, must comply with Penquis background check requirements with satisfactory results as outlined in current contract provisions.
The starting rate of pay for the Teacher position is $20.34 per hour and additional compensation may be given consideration with relevant experience. Eligible upon hire, new employees in our Early Childhood programs who work 24-40 hours per week, will receive a monthly stipend which is based on your lattice through MRTQ (Maine Roads to Quality).
