SUMMARY OF POSITION :

Provide technology support to one or more operational business units of the Medical Center. Participate in team planning and discussions, prepare sections of team documents, lead small to medium-sized projects, and participate in larger projects. Realize that the daily emphasis of this position is task completion and project completion, according to specific instructions. Understand that these activities usually require the implementation of known approaches, perhaps with modest modification, rather than the engineering of new solutions.

PURPOSE OF POSITION :

  • Maintain a strong working knowledge of the EMR in order to provide customer facing clinical application support to the provider community. Support is often furnished on a 1:1 basis.
  • Leverage knowledge of physician workflows and the clinical system in order to lead small to medium sized projects and collaborate on larger team projects.
  • Positively represent IS to the clinical population. Serve as a liaison between IS analysts and business units.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Either: (a) Bachelor's degree plus two additional years of related experience or (b) six years total of related experience.
  • Adheres to and exhibits our organizational core values as outlined by Penn State Health.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Previous experience, knowledge, or certifications with the Cerner EMR (emphasis on Provider and Clinical Workflows)
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Previous experience in training, education, technical support, or customer service
  • Proven ability to influence others in a 1:1 or group setting
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate efficiency metrics into actionable tasks
  • Ability and desire to travel locally to various acute care sites and/or ambulatory offices
  • Ability and desire to support 24/7 On-Call rotation
  • Ability and desire to provide on-site support during Go-Live
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, writing and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to absorb new ideas and concepts quickly
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Self-motivated with the ability to conduct research into EMR functionality (often engaging build analysts and/or informaticists) to recommend configuration solutions or ideas.
  • Previous Knowledge of IT Incident/Customer Service Requests Software a plus (e.g. Service Now)
