Summary:

  • Through knowledge and ability to perform all functions within the bed planning module of Penn Chart. Coordination the bed placement of patients based on the established guidelines and protocol of the Health System. Working in conjunction with the Bed Flow Nurses and the Nursing Administrative Coordinators to ensure proper bed placement based on medical service, diagnosis, level of care and gender. Maintain Cureatr process of accurate and timely notification to providers and unit staff when Bed requests are made through the emergency department. Working cooperatively and professionally with all levels of hospital staff.

Responsibilities:

  • Organizes and completes all processes related to the Bed Placement function. This includes assigning beds for incoming patients, urgent, direct emergency, observation, surgical placement, and transfers.
  • Update patients in Penn Chart transitioning from inpatient to hospice care.
  • Assign the most appropriate bed for each patient based on established guidelines which includes the bed placement Matrix & maximum census based on individual unit staffing.
  • Communicate frequently & and effectively with the Bed Flow nurses and the Nursing Administrative Coordinators and elevate to them any bed placement concerns.
  • Appropriately apply the Cureatr process for all patients admitted through the Emergency Department within 3 to 5 minutes of Bed Request being placed.
  • Ensure appropriate Cureatr message with bed placement information is sent to the correct provider and nursing staff.

Credentials:

Education or Equivalent Experience:

  • H.S. Diploma/GED (Required)
  • Equivalent Experience: 2 years of healthcare work experience or Bed Coordinator experience.
