Penfield Children's Center is Hiring a Director of Information Systems/Technology Near Milwaukee, WI

Job purpose

The Director of Information Systems is responsible for directing and coordinating activities within the Information Technology (IT) Department. This position supervises the IT Specialist and Network Administrator, consults with management to determine data processing requirements, applies knowledge of system capacity to determine feasibility of projects, maintains current knowledge of new hardware and software and recommends upgrading to maintain efficient operation, schedules and organizes work to be executed and performs analysis of department production systems and redesigns workflow if appropriate. The Director of Information Systems reports to the Vice President of Administration/ CFO.

Strategic Planning and Implementation:

  • Develop and execute the IT/IS strategic plan in alignment with the organization's overall strategic objectives.
  • Assessing current technology infrastructure, anticipating future needs, and recommending enhancements or upgrades
  • Collaborate with executive leadership and department heads to understand business objectives and identify opportunities where IT/IS can drive business value.
  • Ensure IT/IS initiatives align with and support the organization's goals and priorities.
  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies and trends relevant to the organization's industry.
  • Evaluate the potential impact of new technologies on business operations and propose innovative solutions to improve efficiency, productivity, and competitiveness.
  • Communicate IT/IS strategies, initiatives, and accomplishments to executive leadership, the board of directors, and other stakeholders. Solicit feedback, address concerns, and ensure alignment with organizational goals and priorities.

Change Management:

  • Lead change initiatives related to IT/IS processes, systems, and organizational structure.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders to gain buy-in, manage resistance, and facilitate smooth transitions.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement within the IT/IS organization, encouraging feedback, innovation, and learning from both successes and failures.
  • Drive initiatives to streamline processes, optimize workflows, and enhance service delivery.

Project and Risk Management:

  • Oversee the planning, execution, and completion of IT/IS projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and according to specifications.
  • Coordinate with project teams, stakeholders, and vendors to ensure alignment with strategic objectives and business requirements.
  • Identify potential risks related to IT/IS operations, data security, and regulatory compliance.
  • Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies, security protocols, and compliance measures to safeguard the organization's assets and ensure adherence to relevant regulations.
  • Develop and maintain disaster recovery and business continuity plans to ensure the organization's IT/IS systems and services can quickly recover from disruptions and minimize downtime.

Leadership & Relationship Management

  • Provide leadership and guidance to the IT/IS team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Mentor and develop team members to enhance their skills, knowledge, and professional growth.
  • Collaborate with other departments, such as finance, facilities, and business intelligence, to identify opportunities for leveraging technology to improve cross-functional processes and achieve business objectives.
  • Evaluate and manage relationships with external vendors, service providers, and technology partners.
  • Negotiate contracts, MOUs, and pricing agreements to ensure optimal value and performance.

Evaluation & Compliance

  • Review, assess, and create IT-related policies
  • Performance Monitoring and Reporting: Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure the effectiveness and efficiency of IT/IS operations. Monitor performance against targets, analyze trends, and prepare regular reports for executive management.
  • Ensure that all IT/IS activities and operations adhere to ethical standards, legal requirements, and HIPAA.
  • Stay informed about relevant laws, regulations, and industry guidelines to mitigate legal and reputational risks

Budget Management:

  • Develop and manage the IT/IS budget, ensuring that resources are allocated effectively to support strategic initiatives while maintaining cost efficiency.
  • Monitor expenditures and adjust budget allocations as needed to optimize resource utilization.

Assist the agency as needed:

  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
  • Encouraged to volunteer 4 hours of time per year to a Penfield activity.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in a related field and 5-7 years of experience required.
  • Management experience preferred.
  • Network Administration experience.
  • Microsoft-certified Systems Engineer a plus (MCSE).
  • General software experience (Microsoft Office, Internet).
  • Database development and design (Microsoft Access, ODBC and SQL).
  • Operating systems installation.
  • Actively demonstrates a commitment to understanding and advancing diversity, equity and inclusion efforts.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Effective customer service skills.

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs on a daily basis.
  • Must have sufficient mobility to move- including bend, stoop, reach, lift and grasp.
  • Meeting vaccine standards as outlined in the Bloodborne Pathogens Exposure Control Plan.
