Job Description

The Teacher/Co-Teacher is responsible for all aspects of the care andeducation for the children in each classroom. Responsibilities mayinclude but are not limited to the following: ensuring a safe andhealthy environment meeting the physical, emotional, social, andintellectual needs of each child, planning and implementing weeklylesson plans, working with families to identify goals and strengths,and to support them in a process which leads them towardsself-sufficiency. Maintain confidentiality of program participants andfollow program and agency policies and procedures.

Hours: Minimum 40 hours/week, Monday-Friday

Experience and Skills

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor's or associate's degree in early childhood education,education, or child/youth development; or
  • Bachelor's degree with at least six credit hours in earlychildhood education, education or child/youth development; or
  • Child Development Associate Credential; or
  • High school diploma/GED, verifiable experience in organized groupactivities for children and successful completion ofDepartment-approved training
  • Previous experience preferred

Certificates, Licensure, Registrations

  • Applicable certificates, licensures, registrations and training asset forth in the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Servicesadministrative codes
  • Infant and child CPR certified
  • Safe with You and Early Learning Guideline Certification - abilityto obtain within one (1) year of employment

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide

  • Ability to write reports and correspondence
  • Ability to effectively present information to residents, families,employees, health care providers, etc...
  • Ability to work cooperatively and communicate effectively tomaintain good working relationships with staff and health care providers
  • Ability to work with skill in identifying problems
